Magic Overhaul Question

Post » Fri Jul 29, 2011 10:49 pm

Hi everyone,

I want to get an magic overhaul mod because I fell that the vanilla system is lacking. Now I have been reading for many hours what other people think about the different available mods but I just cant decide which one I should take. Im split between Mighty Magick:Reborn and Supreme Magick. Alot of people say that Mighty Magick is overpowered but I want something like that. A Powerful Mage should be able to instakill someone who is running at them with a steel sword.
The question I have which one is the better one because Supreme Magick features an ini file so I could make it as powerful as Mighty Magick and make it obsolete or is there something else that im missing?

Mighty Magick Reborn is incompatible with custom races.

I like LAME. *sigh*

As for Mighty Magick Reborn, it does a lot more than merely making magic more powerful. Example given larger magicka pools, but nearly no regeneration (if I recall correctly). And I think it was a compatibility nightmare, too.

However the thing to keep in mind... one shotting enemies is neither fun nor challenging. I'm not sure to what extend Supreme Magicka's damage values can be pushed, however if I had to choose between Supreme Magicka's default settings and Mighty Magick (Reborn), I'd choose Supreme Magicka. Without a second thought.

I saw a mod on Nexus that was all the unique scripted Mighty Magicka spells available from vendors and none of the overhaul aspects ... never tried it, but looked interesting.

Thanks for your opinions. In fact I dowloaded LAME too but I cant decide which one to use. I want to atleast try the high damage values but its seems that Mighty Magick isnt a mod that you can simply install, try a bit and then unistall it. You even have to make a new save game for it so I will give LAME and Supreme Magick a try. They look alot more user friendly too.
@ Psymon
Thanks for that tip. I just saw that mod on Nexus

Install LAME and Supreme Magicka, loads SM after LAME and use bgMagicEV Conjuration for Supreme Magicka.esp. Tweak damage of spells with SupremeMagicka.ini.

This is what I do. No complaints so far.

Do you use these with the vanilla Magicka Pool and Regeneration or do you use the Race Balancing Project?

Supreme Magicka has its own balanced magicka settings. Search fMagickaReturnBase, fMagickaReturnMult, fPCBaseMagickaMult in the ini.
