IMO if there isn't a commrose (or similar) it's not really Battlefield. I take solace from the fact that so far only an alpha has been seen.
Being able to effectively communicate with your fellow soldiers around you is what really lends to the feeling of serving as part of a team. In other FPSs you just feel so disconnected. You could be stood next to a team mate and see a group of enemies moving in but there's fXXX all you can do about it. Even if your on mike it's not as effective as pointing and saying 'Enemy Infantry Spotted!'.
This needs to be a development of Battlefield 2 / 2142, not a development of that **** console fest Bad Company.
Don't let me down DICE.
