Recomended combat mods / overhauls?

Post » Sun Jul 31, 2011 7:12 pm

I'm looking for mods that expand the combat system. I'd be very interested in finding mods that add less functions like standalone shield bashing, kicking, sprinting, etc mod. I'll just fill in the ones I know of and see if anyone here knows of other mods like them.

The Duke Patrick mod you linked to is outdated, this is the most current one, which is updated quite regularly: http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/914-duke-patricks-melee-combat-no-recoil/. Great combat mod with a focus on brutal realism. It does add more functions like shield bashing and kicking, but you can disable them via the ini, if you'd like.

You might want to look at his archery mod too, great stuff. http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/514-duke-patricks-combat-archery/

Thanks I updated the url for Duke Patrick's Melee Combat and I added Duke Patrick's Combat Archery. I've never actually tried any of his mods because I don't want to loose some of the functions that Deadly Reflex has. If you use his Melee Combat mod you are more or less forced to use a helmet and a shield if you don't want to die constantly if i remember correctly? I hate helmets and I hardly ever use shields so if thats the case it's not for me. Something tells me I'm missing out on some great mods though and I would love to use Combat Archery but I doubt it's compatible with Deadly Reflex, I haven't really done any research on the subject though.

Any more mods out there?

There's http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24936 as well. I've heard good things from some people, but I'm on the fence on whether I like it or not (tested it a little, was pretty cool).

He's working on UV2, which you can find http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1170503-wipz-unnecessary-violence-ii-im-back

Your not forced to wear a helmet, since it just adds a little defense its not absolutely necessary. Concerning shields, you'll definitely need one if your char is a brute strength fighter, especially at lower levels. But there are good options for the non-shield user with a one handed weapon, such as dodging, grapple like moves, and kicks, which are all as viable options as blocking. But you'll probably need a high agility to use these effectively.

Right aceGT', the way the mod is works, the more advanced you get the less equipment you need to live. At first you will need armor, big shields, long swords! But as you gain strength, agility, endurance, H2H, blocking and other skills and attributes your weapons can get lighter and smaller all the way down to H2H no weapons or shields.

But no one (in this mod) stats off at level 1 as a H2H expert that can defeat heavy armor guards with war hammers. With this mod going from Zero to Hero takes paying your dues (play time.)

This may not be your thing. I am sure you will find a mod that is, there are a lot out there.
