Considering a jump into making assets and not sure

Post » Sun Jul 31, 2011 9:28 pm

I would like to make my own assets at some point after I work on NVInteriors Urban edition, and not knowing squat about the process involved I need some advice.

Of course spending almost $700 on PS is not going to happen, but I did a search and damn there are so many options I'm not sure what to look at http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_query=Adobe+photo+shop&ic=48_0&Find=Find&search_constraint=2636 any advice is appreciated

Thanks

I don't know too much about making textures myself, but I am under the impression that just about anything can be done using GIMP, which is free, and has a dds plugin available.

GIMP is essentially Photoshop a few years ago. It's still great, and you can still do a HUGE amount of the stuff that you can do with PS. Getting GIMP would be fine. Waiting until your super experienced and really need it to consider getting Photoshop.

I have come to the conclusion after reading, asking, and being around long enough to think ( And I could be way off on this ) PS is more user friendly and easier to use than GIMP, so that's why I'm asking the community.....and as I said I could be way wrong (wouldn't be the first or last time hehe ) As of right now I have a few bucks set aside and was curious about purchasing PS, I have DL'ed GIMP and opened it up a couple times, just to close it in confusion  .

Anyway thanks for the feedback so far all
