Lose an armour slot, gain armour crafting. I'd say we're on the winning side of the equation

How about keep armor slots gain Armour crafting....but then we wouldn't be able to render so many people...(on the consoles)

That remains to be seen. It all depends on how much creative thought is placed into the crafting system. If it's like Fallout 3 crafting then it will svck. If it is like New Vegas it will be slightly better.

Slightly? Saying New Vegas's crafting system was slightly better than FO3 is the understatement of the century.

well

I can honestly say I don't care

cause I wear a robe

which is already greave and body armor

I hope though that with smithing we will be customizing the armors a lot, cause I would like to try other characters, and with the new enchanting system don't dare say "we lost another enchanting slot" cause enchanting depends on what Bethesda says it can do and not enchanting slots, I MEAN that if we can make a very powerful enchant on armor with 3 effects then who needs more enchanting slots?!

Mixing armor in Morrowind was awesome and it was a much bigger step down to Oblivion then it is from Oblivion to Skyrim.

I don't think it really matters that much anymore. Customizing your appearance is already very limited.
Hope they have at least a lot of armor and clothing styles to pick from, that would be a reasonable compensation.

Matter of opinion. I think it could have been better. All of it was built from F3 and rehashed... there was just lots more of it.

Its probably in part for aesthetic reasons. It did seem strange to see low level bandits in OB wearing a heavy armor cuirass with plain cloth pants :/

I recently replayed through Oblivion and Morrowind and frankly i never used an armour set if i didn't have the entire set. In both games i always wanted the boots/gloves/chest/legs before i bought or wore the set. When trying different pieces of armour together you'll often end up looking like a fool. As for Oblivion, oh how i hated bandits combining a glass helmet with a daedric cuirras and elven grieves... Around 80% of your enemies looked like they stepped right out of the circus.

In Skyrim however since the cuirras and grieves are merged enemies will hopefully almost always look half decent. Also since we have smithing we will be able to modify our armour. I'm not 100% sure about this, but if you compare several pictures we've received so far you can see people wear leather armour sets that have some common features, however they're still very different from eachother. For example, in two pictures the belt part and below both looked exactly the same, it had fur bits on it. In one of the pictures the guy simply had 2 leather straps crossed over eachother on his chest and back, and in the another picture (also the armour that the guy in the demo is using) the guy is wearing the same leather straps, but now with an additional leather body with it and a shoulder pauldron. This i believe is one of those customizations.

People usually wear sets of armor, uniforms, costumes. You never see a police officer wear half a uniform with the other half being a tutu. But casual clothing should be separate.

Yeah that's really all that matters. The cuirass/greaves combination changes nothing significant.

There was not a lot more of what was from Fallout 3, no, because all Fallout 3 let you do was make weapons, NV added ammo, more weapons, armor, misc, poisons, chems, and all kinds of other stuff.

It was actually less of what Fallout 3 had, sense including DLCs there are only about 7 craftable weapons.......but there were loads of things that weren't even in Fallout 3.

Highly exaggerated for effect, but this is why I prefer Skyrim's method.

Like it or not, PC's are only 10% of the market. It svcks, but it's true.

It's actually not true. PC sales for fo3 and oblivion are about 25-30% after including Digital Sales.

Todd fouled up and thats a fact.

While I do not mind that there is only 4 bodyarmor pieces(excluding shield) I do hope they don't reduse it more in TES:VI.

Hey, as long as they have A LOT of armor sets like they said they do (even more than Morrowind), I think there will be room for lots and lots of customization.

It doesn't help at all when the armour they make is ugly--the only women's armour I've so far seen is atrocious.
