Book of Eli, obviously. The Road comes close too. They both resemble Fallout 3 the most.
Mad Max (especially ep.2) also, being an important source of inspiration for the original Fallout.

Above guy took my ideas. Book of Eli is THE Fallout movie, the guy even has VATS!

Road Warrior (Mad Max 2) was pretty awesome as well, I squealed when I saw the raider armor, reminded me so much of Fallout 3 You should see Road Warrior (Mad Max 2) it will blow your freaking mind! and it's the only good movie in the Mad Max series.

Mad Max 2

Fallout takes more from movies and 1950s sci-fi then movies. Fallout also got inspiration from the Game http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasteland_(video_game)

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Leather_jacket_(Fallout)
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Horned_kangaroo

I am sure there are more references but those are the two things I can think of off the top of my head.

The Book of Eli and the Road were not inspirations for Fallout (at least not the movies) because they came out after Fallout. Before Fallout 3. Fallout as a whole meaning Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Those two movies only really fit Fallout 3.

A bit dated...

And kind of wierd.

Believe it or not... The Hills Have Eyes -remake, of a few years ago has some striking Fallout references for those that know the series; and while as a whole, its not really Fallout... in parts, its more 'Fallouty' than most.

For unlike Book of Eli... It has marauding mutants in medical braces, old 50's cars, and the arid nuclear ruination of the 1950's world as it's setting.

Anyone who has played Fallout 1 will get a kick out of these screen-captures.

(It even has the number '13', painted on a 50's car behind a mutant with a shotgun.)

The protagonist in the movie is even a typical 'nuclear family kid' (aged about 20), turned unwilling wasteland warrior/ mutant killer; wielding an axe, shotgun, and has a German Shepard combat companion.

The best part of that movie was the killer guy just running in there and slaughtering everybody. Too bad it wasn't a good movie.

Are there any interesting screenshots from the original from 1977?
