"Good" Assasains

Will we see something similar to Morag Tong? I know there are only three main factions but what do you guys think?
Personally I'd love to, because I play a stealth character, but I also play the lawful hero, with zero lifetime infamy and no crimes committed.

Morag Tong were wiped out by the DB unfortunately...But I'd still love to see something which implemented this. If not, do what I did in Oblivion, give a backstory to all your hits.

Yeah, I normally just say that I'm "infiltrating" the Dark Brotherhood... I was really disappointed that you couldn't kill the night mother.
Also when did the Morag Tong get wiped out? During Morrowind?

I didn't know that. That's pretty ridiculous, seeing as the Morag Tong are incredibly badass, and the DB are... well... perhaps Oblivion's portrayal was unfair.

While we're on the topic, I never quite "understood" the Dark Brotherhood. Why did they worship Sithis in the first place?

Infernal City. The Dunmer got their asses beaten hard in the lore and I hope it makes them far more interesting as a result. Wounded pride can do a hell of a lot to a race for which pride was a defining characteristic. I hope to god we see some sort of Dunmer cultural revival movement in Skyrim, made up of old curmudgeons and passionate youths who cling to their history and institute new anologues to their old institutions. The Ordinators are the town guard, wearing salvaged Indoril armor or mockups of it for the lower ranks. The Morag Tong, the deadly enforcing arm of the now racially charged Commona Tong, who give no quarter to the other races in their support of the Morrowind resistance army. Let the blood of all the races of man and beast spill upon the ground, let the cities of the decadent light-skinned mer burn to ashes, so long as Morrowind is restored to Her former glory!

We had better see a metric [censored]-ton of bitterness and anger burning in the hearts of at least a few Dunmer. I want a divide to form, between those who will not let the homeland go and those who have adapted to life in Skyrim and want to leave the past behind them. They're a people in exile now. They better [censored] act like it.

Morag Tong...good? The very same organization that assassinated Reman III, ushering in a time of semi-instability? The very same organization who kills petty dunmer nobles for petty dunmer nobles and no one else?

Yeah, I think the definition of good has been broadened heavily. Also, if you thought the DB's fanatical Sithis crud from Oblivion was bad, the Morag Tong operate SOLELY for Melphala. The DB is secular in comparison.

Morag Tong are above the law. = Politically Good.
(Politically Good, now there's an oxymoron)

The Morag Tong serves Mephala, the DB serves Sithis... how could one possibly be secular in comparison with the other? They're both quite fanatical.

Or are that good at hiding no one knows where they are. They simply allowed the DB to think they eliminated them, afterall there's no one to find and kill if they are already dead.

I would prefer to join the Morag Tong as I would like to take government bounties and I have never been much of a cult person. All the shrine worshipping of the DB is bit much for me, however my bloodlust will mean if the DB are the only choice then they are who I will join.

They're only above the law, as long as they have a writ to execute that specific person. If they don't, then they just committed murder and could be thrown in jail or put to death. In addition, they were only really allowed to kill dunmer nobles, paid by dunmer nobles, no one else. Of course there were "grey writs" which was the MT's way of saying "screw the rules, I'll just make up a half-assed justification...maybe."

And Alexandur, whoops, misread Brothers of Darkness. Okay, so they're just as fanatical, but they don't only worship Sithis; that seems to be the Cyrodiilic chapter's thing. The ones in DF worship Melphala, and the one in MW...isn't talked about. Also, the only differences between the DB and MT is that the DB will work for anyone and anyone, and the MT had legal sanction in MW.

A guild of psychopaths who worship Chaos. Whats there to understand?

BTW, I dont know where its said the DB destroyed the Tong...but they didnt, just so you know.

Ad the Tong rarely operate outside of Morrowind, so...yeah. They are sanctioned by the Empire as one of the many ways to get on the good side of the Dunmeri Houses.

The MT were not sanctioned by the empire, they were sanctioned by the houses of MW and the Tribunal to operate in MW only. The empire would rather see them wiped out, and planned to after the assassination of Reman III. However, the MT appealed to Vivec to allow them to operate only in MW. If they go outside to perform a job, they can be hunted down and killed just like any other assassin.

And to stress, the MT worked for petty nobles to kill other petty nobles for lots of money; they were a chained dog not a noble group of philanthropists or the guys from AC or something. The DB works for anyone and everyone, just as long as they pay up.

I hope Skyrim gives us more lore on the Penitus Oculatus.

I like the idea of political espionage and government sanctioned assassinations, and at least they aren't religious zealots.

still no source on the MT getting wiped out? Im not a fan of the DB as a whole because of how they were portrayed in OB (The quest line was one of the best though). The characters and mindless psychopathic murdering mindset put me off. Cant they be evil or even less evil and not be stupid about it?

The Morag Tong was wiped out when Red Mountain erupted, destroying Morrowind. Then the An-Xileel Argonians went into Morrowind and slaughtered any Dunmer survivor they found, as retribution for Morrowind enslaving Argonians for millenia.
