Introduction
Caesars Legion was successful during the second battle of Hoover Dam, they NCR was cut down and pushed out of the region and the Legion conquered New Vegas and turned it into Rome, they enslaved most of the population for a small period of time. In the months following the Legions victory they were able to capture the towns of the Mojave and construct three main bases, the first being in Nellis Air Force Base, the second in Camp McCarran and the last at the NCRCF. During this time the NCR fell apart and went into a civil war that nearly destroyed it, the NCR that came out of the war was a much different, and weaker, one but it was one that was more dangerous than the previous. The NCR abandoned its people and moved into a secret bunker somewhere in Death Valley; from there they have been terrorizing the Legion for years without the Legion being able to stop them. Caesar has had enough of this and has sent the now Centurion, Lupus Deserti and a Contubernia of his choosing to end the New California Renegades. But unbeknownst to Caesar ever since the second battle of Hoover Dam Lupus has been conspiring with his father the Burned Man, Joshua Graham a man who Caesar believes is dead, to kill Caesar and take over his empire. What will happen in the future is unknown and only time will tell.
CHAPTER 1
ENTER THE LEGION
Graham’s Hideout, West of Rome (New Vegas)
“Lupus, my son, for years we’ve planned this and now I believe we are closer to our goals than ever before” spoke Joshua Graham, “Caesar may be harder to get to than he ever was before but he trusts you Lupus, he leaves his faith in you. He’s chosen you to lead the investigation and extermination of the New California Renegades, out of the thousands of Legionaries he could of chosen he chose you, if that doesn’t say he trusts you I don’t know what does.”
Lupus smiled, it almost made him feel bad that he was going to kill Caesar, “Very true father, we are closer than ever, when I go and meet Caesar for the briefing of the mission I will shove a blade into his heart!” said Lupus violently.
“No Lupus, exterminate the Renegades first, it’s your best option, if somehow the word gets out that Caesar has died while they are still around the Renegades will launch a full force attack and during that attack things might happen that will have drastic consequences on the Mojave, consequences that might affect the Mojave for years to come, when I take the throne as the new Caesar I’d rather not have a crumbling empire.”
“As you wish father, I am not one to refuse spilling profligate blood, it is my favorite pastime after all, that and plotting the death of the mighty Caesar!” said Lupus with a light chuckle, sadly Joshua did not join in; Joshua was never the one to join in on laughter.
“Now let’s not waste time Lupus, seek out Caesar, learn what he knows of the Renegades, collect your Contubernia and destroy the enemy like you’ve done countless times before. And remember this Lupus, they are much smaller than the NCR before them, despite their new found violent nature remember the Legions, and if all else fails outthink the enemy and victory will be inevitable.”
“Thank you for your advice father, and goodbye.”
With that Lupus left the cave that his father had been living out of for the past nineteen years, he headed east towards Rome with no worries of been hurt or ambushed, the Legion had transformed the area surrounding Rome into a safe haven, no longer would Lupus have to be worried of being attacked by tweaked out raiders or viscous wasteland creatures, instead he would only encounter the odd Legionary or a few Legion citizens. When Lupus arrived at the gates of Rome he was greeted by two Legionaries.
“Ave, Centurion Deserti, Caesar awaits you in his tower, and may you destroy the profligates who threaten us!” said the Legionary, he was a young man, no older than twenty, Lupus smiled at the sight of him, he reminded him of himself at a young age.
“Ave, I will not fail Caesar, his wish is for the profligates to be put down once and for all and I am the executioner.”
“Great news Centurion, the Legion and I have faith in you, may you lead us to victory!” the Legionary then opened the gate allowing Lupus access, Lupus thanked the Legionary whilst walking into the area that was once known as Freeside. This area was now a massive market where Legion citizens traded and sold supplies, several guards patrolled the area at all times ready to end to the lives of any criminal no matter what the crime, Caesars Empire had survived because of their intolerance for the corrupt and unjust.
Every single citizen Lupus walked by greeted him, it was considered rude to not greet a Centurion, Lupus simply replied with Ave to each greeting. When he arrived at the gates of Inner Rome, the area once known as the Strip, one of the seven Praetorians standing guard opened the gate.
“Ave, Centurion Deserti, Caesar is expecting you, best not waste his time.”
“I have no intentions to Praetorian.”
Lupus continued on to the Tower of Rome, previously called the Lucky 38, the place was packed with Praetorians, anyone not in the Legion would never make it to Caesar, and even most of the people in the Legion were forbid from entering the Tower of Rome, only the ones who guarded the tower and the ones who were invited to the tower were allowed access. Lupus entered the elevator and went straight up to the Presidential Suite, when he entered he was greeted to emptiness. He walked into the room in front of him and was greeted to the sight of Caesar.
I could kill him right now, it would be extremely easy, the years of planning would pay off, I would plunge my blade into the heart of the man who kept my father’s identity hidden from me, but I couldn’t, vengeance and justice would have to wait, luckily I am a patient man.
“Caesar, it is great to see you!”
“Lupus my friend, I agree, now let’s get down to business. The [censored] NCR doesn’t seem to die do they? They’ve reincarnated as the New California Renegades, how clever, sadly they’ve been able to mow down three Legion settlements and nine, yes nine, Legion outposts. It’s insulting to my Empire and I won’t allow it anymore. The NCR should have died when they tore each other apart; sadly that is not the case. But thankfully I have you, Lupus as you know I want you and a Contubernia of your choosing to lead the investigation and destruction of the New California [censored] Renegades. Do it as quick as possible, but if necessary take your time. Now go collect your Contubernia and travel to Goodsprings, a Frumentarii squad will be there to inform you of your first goals and will accompany your Contubernia for a while. Don’t disappoint me Lupus.”
“Have I ever before?”
Caesar smiled, “No.”
With that Lupus left the Tower of Rome, he had an idea of who he wanted for his Contubernia, his first stop would be the Market Place.
