Time Between Playthroughs

Post » Wed Aug 03, 2011 12:29 pm

Last night I threw in Oblivion for the 360 and started up a new play through, before I did I checked my last save 8/11/07. Its not like I played this game once either I fondly remember playing the game, I can't believe I haven't played this game in almost four years and to be honest I have no clue what I'm doing now the leveling is totally different than what I've gotten used to since. My question is how long has anyone gone between plays and can someone tell me if I'm on the right track with my Mage, Breton, Apprentice, going to try a heavy illusion build. What do you guys think?

The timeline varies. I would say 6 months, pending.

As far as your build...Once you get a hang of the Illusion spells, you will hardly ever take any damage. It can be very overpowered. Even to the point of gamebreaking, without a heavy RPing playstyle. M/B/A is a solid combination.

For a newbie, would you explain what M/B/A is? TIA

I'm not sure how long it was, to be honest. I used to play Oblivion for the PC. Around here you'll find I'm perhaps the only person that switched from PC to Xbox. (Usually it's the other way round, because people want mods.) I switched for a few reasons- comfort, my pc was getting old and slow, other people wanting the computer and me never getting on, I didn't want mods, I used to cheat by using the console and I felt bad... the list goes on.
When I got my Xbox Oblivion was one of the first games I bought for it, simply because I missed it so much. I might have a little look at the saves on the old computer though, just to see when I last played the PC one. I'm pretty sure it was about 2 years between quitting the PC version and buying an Xbox / getting Oblivion.

To my knowledge its the most solid mage build as the Breton has a resistance to magic, to offset the penalty of the apprentice birth-sign. There are other more powerful mage builds but they often come at a much steeper cost when coupled with the Apprentice birth-sign. If I remember correctly though Illusion isn't in your mainline of upgrades so you'll upgrade at a much slower pace.
