Though it was something that people thought would be wildly popular in the "future," I would rather not have jet packs in fo.

I would, but I would want it to be implemented like the jetpack in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-w1zjyv4K0&feature=related; but either non regenerating, or regenerating over the course of three days, and not easily repaired.

*I would also want it as a VATS target that explodes on critical, or at zero hits.

If map and game mechanics was adapted for flight gameplay, would be nice.

Lack of flying enemies and need more variety on them. In F3 was only the bloatfly, and they only float ground level, not fly.

I agree with Gizmo. If they were included, I'd prefer them to be more of a jumpjet. Something that launches you into the air, then brings you don't safely some distance away. They'd probably go very well with power armor. But not a sustained flight jet pack.

If the next engine Fallout is put on can handle jet-packs they'd be a cool item to have. The only thing is who would make them? Considering it's not a weapon or medical tech someone would have to go out of their way for something that's not a necessity or guaranteed to help anyone. We'd need a faction that made them or found a stockpile somewhere.

I really don't think it was every a problem with the engine. I think it has more to do with world design. And a part of me thinks they won't ever been in, much for the same reason levitation was removed from the Elder Scroll games.

Indeed.. Its been done as a mod for both games.

Would it boost the frame rate if you travel to places too fast?

Even just a few locations (or even just one) ~only reachable by Jetpack, would be enough, and justify it.. especially if it has to be repaired to work.

They could even set it up so that it is depleted on the first flight (IN), refueled, and depleted once again on its flight out ~and lacks the power to carry an external tank of fuel out with it.

(Though obviously it would be more fun if we got to keep and maintain it.)

It dosn't have to be a faction that makes them. Say a rebellious BoS scribe, like Veronica, wanted to toy around with making one. IT would make an intresting side quest. Meet the makier of the jet/jump pack, gather the finishing items, test it, amd get it have an award. It would need limitations though like other said. I don't think repairing should be part of it though. But fuel should be hard to find.

how would jet packs be any more game breaking than sneak? You can avoid most battles with it

I don t know guys, it sounds like HALO time to me. Some NPCs would have to have them too, then there would be all kinds of people shooting up in the air and having laser rifle battles.

I just can t bring my self to saying yes. Lets go with a few vehicles first, huh?

I don't think so... I think it could be a one-of-a-kind relic, and far too valuable to waste in an air battle, or to hover around sniping.

The problem is I don't see any one-off single or limited use items appearing in a Bethesda game :(
(Just look at the Fatman... That should have been a one or two round city killer... and they made it a BFG, and put ammo for it in every nook & cranny.)

The thing about it is that it fits right in line with what people though would be going down by 2077. Its not really far fetched......

Hell, sometimes that rocketpack flys around before the super bowls.

If there is only 1 fine whatever, Im selling it though.......

Or have a small number of enemies with them. An elite team like Enclave Hellfire.

I say no, it would be way to overpowering. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to code it to allow players to use it.

And I do not think the Enclave would have it, only creatures I think could have it is a horrifying experiment like Big MT (or my idea of a facility called the Ancient Border Facility) and I think it'd be unlootable like the space suits on those Trauma corpse things...

It wouldn't be that difficult at all. People have made mods that add them in. The real problem is their affect on gameplay. Their impact on the game world and gameplay would be enormous.

Got ambushed by a dozen raiders and getting your butt kicked? Fly away. Need to get from point A to point B, but there's mountains or other obstacles in the way? Just fly over them. And so forth.

Yeah, I guess you're right...

I still think it should be just for enemies.
