Outcast stronger FI and Fort Independence Improved

These are the two mods that I want to use:

Outcast stronger FI 1.0

Improves the exterior defenses of Outcast's Fort Independence with walls, sandbags, patrols, and optional raids by Talon dummies, raider scumbags, and Enclave douchebags.

Fort Independence Improved 1.1

Cleans up and improves the inside of Fort Independence and adds working air conditioners, doctor, trader, sleeping area, better working space for Outcast scribes, etc.

The authors of both of these mods have worked together to make the mods compatible. Both of the downloads include patches for each other. This means that I am to use both patches? NoMerge or Mark Mergeable? They are not clear on this and I don't think Wrye Flash was around when these mods were released. Anyone use these two mods together? One of the authors clearly states "unsure if you need the other file."

I found the load order and updated navmesh files on this page:

The first mod crashed my game before five minutes passed. The second mod seems to work, but I haven't seen Defender Morgan for several days. Now there is only a single Mark V turret as the first line of defense.

I will have to accept it or load a previous save.
