Guard Helmet clipping

Post » Mon Aug 08, 2011 12:45 am

Certain (not all) guards have helmets clipping with their heads - leads to a weird effect seen here. See the brown lines that make the helmet look split?:

http://bildr.no/view/943690<---ignore the bizarre eye tatoo - that is due to another mod.

I use Robert's Male Bodies (All Male Bodies version), HGEC female body, EVE-HGEC armor pack for FCOM, and a full FCOM install. Not sure what is causeing this, but the helmet is from OOO. Only happens on some guards.

Any clues on how to fix this minor annoyance?

I've seen that before as well. It happened to my character with something he was wearing... I think it was an iron helmet. I thought it was PyFFI. I can't remember now, and I don't recall seeing it recently. It would be nice to know what causes this though...

Yup, I am using the Pyyfi'ed OOO meshes as well. Can someone else confirm if they see it as well if they use Pyffi?

PS: I thought Pyffi ignored helmets? Something to do with egm files etc.?

If you're using a download from TESNexus, isn't there a helmet fix patch uploaded separately. Honestly, you'd be better off PyFFI-ing the meshes yourself with the latest version of PyFFI (stable) v2.1.9. You could also just wait for the OOO update for PyFFI-ed OOO meshes. I am not positive whether or not PyFFI ignores helmets, but the default optimization INI it comes with an exclude pattern that tells PyFFI to ignroe most helmets and hairs and other items that have associates EGT files. It should certainly avoid all of such vanilla items, but maybe some of the OOO helmets do not have EGT files. Also, the upload version of the OOO PyFFI meshes was made around version v2.1.6 I think.

Happy gaming!

The helmet fix is what you need. Just went through this yesterday. Or run your own pyffi on the OOO meshes.
