Fast Travel Now Costs Money

I can understand it sometimes when i fast traveled in fallout i pretended like a caravan offered to "taxi" me there on there way so naturally u'd pay the lads, but in skyrim if there is no sort of "taxi" bussiness then i don't see the point

In Fallout you could travel with a caravan.

i would have been better if you had to buy travel scrolls. it takes up inventory and costs money and must be replaced and its lore friendly as well since they had scrolls that teleported you in morrowind. it makes some sense since it costs money to use the carraige system at least i would assume then it should cost money to map travel as well.

worst idea ever and if this infromation about fast travel is true i will hate bethesda for ever...

So long as there are like silt striders I'm down. it'd be pretty dumb if gold just fell out of your pocket upon traveling.

In Morrowind, I fast-traveled from time to time, but it wasn't too bad, seeing as how you were actually using some sort of transportation to your destination, and it only made sense to pay whoever was taking you. In Oblivion, since it was so easy, I took advantage and picked up the bad habit of constantly fast-traveling. After seeing the beautiful scenery of Skyrim in gameplay videos and screenshots, I told myself I would not fast-travel unless absolutely necessary, so that I wouldn't miss out on such gorgeous views. So, this does not bother me at all.

If there's an immersive in-game reason for a price on fast-travel, such as only being able to fast-travel via carriage etc, I'd be fine with this. However, if you point to a cave on a map and have to sacrifice 5 gold to the travel gods to walk there quickly, that's very arbitrary and absurd. It'll be one of the first things modded away, I think.

if I'm in the middle of nowhere, and I want to fast travel to a city, who exactly is the gold going to? Makes no sense but could care less, before even 1/4 the game is completed I'm sure everyone will have spare gold. But more importantly, who would even fast travel at the beginning half-ish of the game when they havent explored yet? I'm sure even the people that rush the game will want to get into a few random battles in the wilderness.

This would make more sense if you were paying for some type of transportation. Fast travel to me was always getting from point A to B, when I have already physically done it several times or short on time. If I was playing for an hour and had to do a quest traveling from one side of the map to the other without fast travel, I'd be pretty PO'd... especially if I had already physically traveled the route.

No the first thing modded away will be clothing :hubbahubba:

But ya, why go to the trouble of making the carriage system just to charge you to walk fast travel anyways?

Why keep fast travel and charge for it when they've gone to the trouble of making a carriage system?

( i did post these in this tread earlier but thought i'd bring them up anyways, along with the fact the article funny names for Skyrim added together make The Elder Scrolls 15: The Cataclysmically Hot Pursuit of The Old Republic of Tuscany....Which sounds amazing....
