ive just completed fallout 1 and enjoyed it up to destroying the military base. the storyline made perfect sense by reading the info from the the glow which mentioned that the experiements with FEV are taking place in a military base north which the brotherhood wanted me to check out anyway, so i blew it up thus ending the source of the mutants. all this makes sense. however afterwards nothing actually led me to the cathedral, i knew where it was so i went there and ended up killing the master and finishing the game. how exactly are you meant to know the master is at the cathedral and who exactly is he and what was his connection to the children? non of these were answered and im guessing i either missed something or the player just guesses he is at the cathedral because member of the children were in the military base - which would be a weak ending to and otherwise good game.

The Master is the founder of the Children of the Apocalypse. They are the people that get people to become super mutants.

Once you bring the water chip back to the Vault the Overseer isn't done with you. He tells you about the next threat and that is the Super Mutants. You find out about the master by talking to the Children of the Apocalypse as well as some super mutants. Harold also has information for you.

Also, people do speak of this cult in various settlements, and you do meet some... agents... of theirs, which will give you clues that there is some weird cult. And then yeah, you meet the FotA and they tell you stuff about the Cathedral. For me, first time I played Fallout 1, I was lead the the Cathedral before Mariposa :s

ah ok thanks for the reply, i forgot about harolds story and about the fota mentinoing about the evils going on there, the only link i had was the fact that were members of the children of the cathedral in the military base.
