Consistently eveling athletics when you walk (not run) every

Post » Tue Aug 09, 2011 11:54 am

I like to walk around in Cyrodiil instead of run, for realism and immersion. When I'm just traveling I walk. But I find that I barely ever get boosts in athletics because I only run when its necessary for my character. My current character's fighting style is based off light armor and speed, and the athletics skill is very important. Any other ways other than auto running against a wall for 20 minutes or a lot of expensive training?

From the looks of it I guess I'm just gonna have to run everywhere like a normal gamer

edit:  typo in my topic title. ***Leveling***

I use http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7484 which makes running a bit more realistic. When the character's Fatigue hits 0 the character stops running and begins to walk. When Fatigue rises to 25% the character is able to run again. There is also an optional sprint feature.

Auto swimming against a wall is faster ('course, a water breathing item helps). Athletics increases slightly faster while swimming than running.

0.3 for running as opposed to 0.4 for swimming I think that's right?

For OP: Of course both are still extremely slow, my
athletics is at 60 with 120hours and I don't abuse fast travel.

One of the things Todd said in one of those Skyrim interviews was they changed (dropped?) Atheletics as a skill for Skyrim because "who likes to walk around everywhere?" Which kinda irked me because some of my characters do walk quite a bit. Even if they're on a horse, the horse will be walking, unless there's an enemy chasing it. That's not exactly the way he put it by the way, but it's close enough.

I think Todd just assumes that since the average gamer runs around all the time that we all do. I find it's much better to walk, not just for immersion and appreciation, but it also keeps my characters from running (literally) into traps. You know how many times my characters would have died if i just ran 24/7, and they got smashed into one of those Ayleid spike traps?
