Unique Vampire Abilities

Post » Mon Aug 08, 2011 11:28 pm

Maybe in the movies its cool, but in the game it was just unfun, and a pain in the ass to work with. It made just being a vampire impractical and tedious, regardless if it has some "awesome ability" as a trade off. It would have to be a pretty substantial advantage, and very in depth in terms of implementation and how many other unique abilities vampirism offers.

and then all ppl would become a vampire

I think a simple inversion of abilities and tributes would suffice. Not locking out daylight entirely.

^ Clearly has not seen Hellsing Ultimate.

Alucard is SATAN

Alucard is the only character that has ever made me feel sorry for a NAZI Vampire.

and hes the main character!

To be honest, I'd just like to be able to go out into the sunlight.

You can, with Stage 1 Vampirism.

You can, with Stage 1 Vampirism.

Only applies for Cyrodilic vampires, one of the most badass.

VAMPIRE
  • Increased Speed
  • Waterbreathing
  • Increased Jump Height
  • Heart Shots Deal Massive Damage to You
  • Mist Form
  • Ability to Hypnotise NPCs
  • Compulsion Ability
  • Health Regeneration when Feeding
  • Vulnerability to Sunlight

WEREWOLF
  • Increased Speed
  • Increased Jump Height.
  • Silver Weapons Deal Massive Damage to You
  • Ability to Howl and Scare NPCs.
  • Health Regeneration at all Times when Transformed
  • Retain resistance to disease in human form, as well as increased strength and health and etc, although less potent than werewolf form.

I think the ability to walk in sunlight as a Vampire (at any stage) should come at a high cost if it was to be implemented - there could possibly be an organisation of Vampire Hunters that become aggressive to you when they find you. They wait till you rest to ambush you in your sleep, equipped with silver weapons that deal a sizeable amount of damage (enough to make you not want to encounter them) to you - regular visits from a group of deadly Vampire Hunters crowding your room would surely act as a deterrent for those unprepared to fight off such dangers. Of course there would need to be a way to avoid this if you're incapable of fighting them, such as Vampiric hideouts well outside the cities' scopes.

Vampirism could act as a power-up to those who are capable of fighting off the increased danger levels, without the annoyance of the 'Vampires burn in sunlight' principle.

Force feed, as a sneak attack only I suppose, would be nice.
I assume vampires will get a number of buffs similar to what they got in previous games - raised stam/magicka/health, detect life and night eye, something invisibility or stealth based, and increased damage with spells and attacks. That should be enough, really, to offset the disadvantages - though I don't see the point of becoming a vampire if you want to pretty much play it like a normal character, I think sunlight damage and NPCs treating them differently is what made becoming one interesting.

As a vampire there really must be a way to counter the sun, whether it is an item that you carry on you, or whether it depends on how much clothing you are wearing or whether you don't get hurt by the sun if you have recently fed there must be something sun damage is one helluva disadvantage in it's own right.

WEREWOLF
You could flatten yourself out on the floor of a house and people will think you are an animal rug. They might come over to investigate the strange wolf-like decoration on their floor.. and then you lash out, flesh filling out your form, and kill your victim. Or you could kill a victim in their home, flattened out on the floor and the guard that comes will look at the bloody wolf headed rug and frown while remarking "That rug needs to be cleaned." after an initial investigation turns up nothing. If you move then you'll have to kill the guard and witnesses.

youre joking, right?
