Animation error

Post » Tue Aug 09, 2011 5:09 pm

I just did a fresh install of MW but kept the saves from my previous install. I updated and repaired them with wyre mash. I can load them and play without any problem. However, when I save at the end of a session then try to load the new save, I get a ctd. What the warnings.txt says is NiAnimation Error; Object "Bip01 Tail4" not found in NiAnimation. When I start a new game, I get the same error but can continue with saying yes to all. But the same thing happens when I try to load that new save. I've tried using LizTails animation kit and that hasn't helped. I would appreciate it if someone could help me fix this. Thanls

I encountered this problem when using an animation replacer, which I regretfully cannot recall the name or author of. I solved it by removing the respective files for the replacer. Don't know if that'll help you though.

Thanks. I did add an animation replacer but I did take that file out of my animation folder and that didn't solve it. I even tried removing the entire animation folder, still no luck.

Have you tried the "rerun setup" in the program? According to the readme:

You tried starting a new file without any mods running? Might shed some light on the problem.

It's not in the Animations folder. The xbase animation files are loose in the Meshes folder.

Thanks for the suggestions. Got it fixed. :twirl: Apparently the nif and kf files from the animation mod were duplicated and ended up free in my meshes folder. Once I found and deleted them the error went away and the saves load fine. Thanks again everyone. :foodndrink:

If it's a replacer, it won't work in the animations folder, the files have to be in the main meshes folder. As for LizTail's kit, it's a mixed bag: sometimes it fixes things, sometimes it breaks things. If you're having tail or toe bone issues, load up the .kf file(s) in NifScope and try deleting the bones in question. That error means that the animation has bones (or a bone) it doesn't know what to do with and deleting the offending bone(s) usually fixes the error. The problem with LT's kit is that it adds an extra toe bone and a tail bone, which can (and has) caused animation errors.
