Fallout New Vegas Low Performance

Post » Wed Aug 10, 2011 10:06 am

Okay, whenever i play FNV I'll load the game just great but as iIm walking around the wastes my game will "freeze" but after 20+ seconds it will go back. It does this ALOT and does it when engaging in combat with enemies. I have around 20 mods downloaded and i just error checked and defragmented my computer to see if that may help. I'm playing with priority set at "high" so i can fix the messed up audio bug. Here are some system specs:
windows xp pro 2002 service pack 3
2.0gb ram
2.01 GHz
AMD Athlon XP 2900+
128gb used
169gb free
And i know this sounds noobish but i kinda forgot where to find my video card info.

thanks, k9000

Sorry, but you aren't supposed to be able to run new games on that old of a computer. It's just way, WAY too old and obsolete now.

If it was actually pertinent, the "Properties" of the display has several tapb, and the very last one, "Settings" has both the GPU and the graphics driver there.

This sounds like your PC has got a lot to do to load data from your harddrive (and swap some back to it). You have your pagefile on the same harddrive that your game?

Anyway, try to disable Screen Effects, Water Reflections, and Distances in your games launcher under "Options" and see what it does to your performance. Maybe that helps...

Oblivion was the last Bethesda game that could run on the old AMD Athlon XP K7 processors. There never was any K7 with dual cores.

Minimum System Requirements

* Windows XP/Vista/Win7
* 1GB System RAM (XP)/ 2GB System RAM (Vista)
* 2.0 Ghz Dual Core processor

FalloutNVLauncher in your Fallout New Vegas main directory.

Anyway you should best have a Dual Core Processor to fully enjoy the game or you'll lack serious on performance sooner or later. But see if it helps. :brokencomputer:
