Courier Vs. Lone Wanderer

I agree with this. Plus, the western portion of the US has been patching itself together for the last 203 years, so it's natural that things are looking better as of 2281.

The Capital Wasteland, however, site on the Tidal Basin, which is very irradiated, so process patching things up are slow. Not to mention the hundreds of ruined buildings from Pre-War DC.

So, it wouldn't surprise me if the LW wasn't nice. (Plus, consider that he/she grew up in a vault where pretty much everyone treated him/her as an outsider, especially the Overseer and the Tunnel Snakes.)

Ok....nearly the entire world got nuked flat. The only survivors are some ghouls and those lucky enough to live in a cave for who knows how many years. And with constant power struggles, war, mutated creatures, and mostly lost technology, and no industralization or mechanization it's logical that ALL OF THAT not only sent humanity back to ZERO but would slow down humanity's progress quite a great deal.

What's the world's population right now? 6.5, almost 7 billion? Maybe the U.S. population is really like 2.5 million tops that survived, which would be less than when the frontier age was going on.

In a real life situation. If the entire world got nuked and there justs bands of survivors pocketed here and there, I wouldn't be surprised if major civilized progress wasn't accomplished for 500 years. It would be like the dark ages, but with no religion, just fire.

I think more than 2.5 million lived. If I were to give you a number I'd say 200 million across the world.Maybe a good few million in the US. Africa probally had minimal damage compared to the rest. A lot of Asia, probally also had minimal damage compared to others.

Well let's see. NCR is about 600,000. Legion 600,000-800,000 tops (I'm guestimating post first battle of hoover dam). NCR controls a good chunk of the west, Legion controls a good chunk of the southwest, we estimate raider and tribal populations around not those areas, East Coast seemed to be hit really hard, Settlements are no more than a few dozen tops. Enclave and BoS are no more than in the hundreds it seems (entire organization).

So 2.5 million for me is a prudent estimate.

I thought you meant the whole world, when you said the whole world got nuked...

Anyways NCR has 700,000 as of 2241, so maybe over 1 million by 2281. Legion is probally close about 2.5 million in the west coast alone. Maybe 2-3 million over the rest of the US, so maybe 4-5 million.

Nah Legion not 2.5 million. There mostly nomadic, there cities are more like settlements. Most of their population is there military. The absolute highest I would estimate is just under a million, but I think it is 600-800 thousand.

No Legion and NCR combined with the surrounding area 2.5 million. Then the rest of the entire US would probally be 2-3 million.
