Reduced Load-Screen Fast Travel Markers
====================*****====================
The Cool Side of the Pillow (AKA Necro-File)
====================*****====================

I don't know about you, but I really hate load screens. The less of them, the better; even if it means a longer load time for the few times it's there.

New Vegas is nice, and the level design is, for the most part, pretty damn impressive. However, the locations of many frequently used Fast Travel locations to some of the more populated camps, cities, and towns, place you right outside a door that leads into another cell.

Call me a Scout, but double loading bars all the way across my screen does indeed make me cry. So I vowed to destroy them. This mod moves several map markers to teleport you directly into these special mini-world cells, so you only need to load once (that is, until I find a way to kill the load monster for fast-travl**) as well as adding new ones in places, specifically The Strip, to reduce loading due to their only being 1 marker for 4-5 cells.

List of Current Changes:

* NEW! Markers for the following locations:

* Lucky 38, at the base of the steps.

* The Tops, facing Yes Man (his OUTSIDE position, not in the casino)

* NCR Embassy, right at the gates.

* Old Mormon Fort, right inside the compound.

# MOVED! Locations:

* Crimson Caravan - Right inside the gate.

* Freeside's East Gate - Name is now "Freeside East" and takes you just inside the East Gate.

* Freeside's North Gate - Name is now "Freeside North" and takes you just inside the North Gate.

* The North Strip Gate - Name is now "The King's School of Impersonation" and takes you, you guessed it, right outside The King's; The Atomic Wranger and Silver Rush are now only 1 block away instead of 4 because of this move (which made sense considering you can just go straight to Lucky 38 with this mod.)

* Camp McClaren - Takes you just inside the main gate.

* Aerotech Office Park - Takes you just inside the main gate.

Feel free to leave questions, comments, suggestions.*

*Suggestions like adding new markers for every single building is not what this mod is about, so please do not bother; they will not be added unless it is to reduce the amount of loads it takes to get to a spot.

**May not actually be possible without hacking the game or being Chuck Norris.

Wonderful mod, thanks

Spoiler
Also, a quick travel location directly in front of the BoS bunker would be nice... I always travel to Happy Valley and forget which bunker they're in.

You could rename the Freeside North and East gates to just Freeside North and East and move those markers to the inside of Freeside. Same goes for The Strip

This is a good mod, definitely too many loading places in such a small area, but I think I will hold out and see if someone comes up with an NV version of Open better cities, there was no need for places like the crimson caravan to be in it's own cell or the mormon place(forget the name), and the vegas strip is rediculous, all that could have been in the external world cell.

I believe that the separation of zone of the zones was to reduce performance issues due to the overwhelmingly high amount of NPCs in those areas. The entire Strip is one complete cell, but there are still loads between each section, possibly so that NPCs from the previous section can be unloaded before the next section's are loaded so you don't have tons of active NPCs svcking up CPU power.

Rizzle-Q & smmansfield: Thanks for the input; will add/change those now.

For the BoS Base, I will just make an entirely new marker because there are other reasons to go to Hidden Valley (lol "happy valley" would have been a nice name, considering what is there XD). I will place it inside the actual base though, to reduce dumb extra load times.

Nice mod, swish lizard. Kind of irritated me how no fast-travel points were inside of zones.

I don't think you uploaded the file with the current changes yet, have you? I just tested this out, and the map marker for the Lucky 38 shows up, but the one for the gate to The Strip is still right where it always used to be.

EDIT: And now the file has been updated. Yay!

I'd like to request a marker for the second half of Freeside, just after the blue gate that leads to The Kings and Silver Rush area, also it'd be nice if the Lucky 38 marker could be facing the casino, keep up the good work :goodjob:

NCR Embassy and the Lucky 38 has you facing the wrong direction, it's a minor problem but if you could just rotate the direction you're facing 90 degrees to the right it would be perfect.
