Assassin build for a fairly new player

Post » Wed Aug 10, 2011 8:49 pm

Hello everyone. I''m kind of a new player, because the last time I played Morrowind was about 3 or 4 years ago. I'm asking you to rate my build and give me some tips for playing an assassin type class in Morrowind since I don't remember almost anything about the game.

So far I came up with this:

Stealth
Main attributes: Agility and Endurance
Major skills: Short blade, Marksman, Armorer, Alteration and Light armor
Minor skills: Alchemy, Destruction, Sneak, Athletics and Restoration

What should I change to become a good assassin/thief?
Thanks in advance.

That build is perfectly fine; any changes would simply be a matter of personal taste,

Myself, I'd swap sneak with light armor just as a matter of what's easy to raise. Any armor skill raises pretty effortlessly. I'd rather have the leveling bonus go to sneak. In addition, to me a key part of being an assassin is easily achieving a critical first strike bonus while stealthed; another reason to make sneak a major.

In addition I might make luck a favored skill rather than agility again along the lines of what's easy or hard to raise. Or maybe strength depending on the race you've chosen and its starting strength (strictly as a matter of how much you can carry while wearing full armor).

I hate starting with strength 30 and having the light armor skill. Very possible with certain wood elf builds.

Thanks a lot for help. I'm playing as a Dark Elf (I accidentally forgot to mention it in the first post) I've swapped Sneak with Light Armor as you suggested and changed Agility to Luck. Do you have any suggestion as for which birth sign I should pick?

Personally I usually go with The Lady for stealth builds. However, with this build you've got nothing based on personality. I think speechcraft is an excellent RP choice no matter if you are agent, assassin or thief. YOU VILL TELL ME WHAT I WANT TO KNOW! :)

One other thing, armorer is nearly never a poor choice, but consider the light weight of short blades. You can carry a couple of them with no problem.

Either way, since about 50% of Morrowind's population is Dark Elf, even without speechcraft you'd be well liked around the land for the most part.

So, I say the lady. Optionally I'd swap armorer for speechcraft. At that point, if there is another minor that you'd rather was a major other than speechcraft, then swap speechraft in to a minor with whatever skill you choose.

The only birthsign that one should never take is the one that gives Turn Undead on both target and touch (the ritual?). These powers are worthless junk in my opinion.

hi,

do you use mods?

otherwise i'd pick the atronach birthsign (absorb + huge magicka pool).
also, without mods, endurance is a very good choice for any custom build char, but you already
picked that.

for the skill choices, i still find it rather difficult to increase sneak as a minor or misc skill, so i
recommend it as a major skill.

if you are considering mods i can recommend http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8626 which gets rid of having
to max out endurance in the first few levels for maximum health.
