Is there a program that will reorder the installers for you?

Like how Mlox reorders the plug-ins for you? Well I was wondering if there was something that'll do it for the installers. I don't know which one should come first.

I mean like mods. I install all my mods through wrye mash, so they're all in the installer folder.

I could be mistaken, but I don't think installers need a specific order to them.

There's really no need to reorder the installers. You can click on the bar at the top to order them alphabetically though. :D

You don't? But don't installers that comes later overwrite the previous ones that contains the same files? That would cause a problem if you get the wrong files to overwrite the others wouldn't it?

Really, no one is mentioning Wrye Mash? Well it doesnt exactly allow reordering, but it does tell you the order they were installed and allow you to install them over everything else, or just install the parts that happen to be missing.

For those people who don't know what installers are or don't use Wrye Mash, I'm guessing you don't use a lot of mods. I use well over 300 and I can't imagine managing them without Wrye Mash or installers.

It is very important to order your Wrye Mash installers because, when there are file conflicts, the last installer installed is the one that "wins".

I order my own installers by manually prepending a numeric prefix (I have 001 through like 135). This means I can install them easily on top of a brand new Morrowind installation, since they appear automatically in the right order in Wrye Mash. I can just select them all and right-click, install. BTW, for my installers, I use 7z files, although I have heard some people just using entire directories.

For installers that don't participate in any conflicts, I don't bother numbering them.

I guess there could be a program that does this numbering automatically. A lot of the ordering I choose is subjective, for example, for texture mods. But there are some installers that only make sense after other ones. For example, high-res textures for better bodies obviously should be installed after better bodies.

I use installers for easy conflict detection. Usually when I install a mod (usually a mesh or tex replacer outside of MGSO) I just look at the conflicts if I think the change is worth it, if it is, I just hit install. After all my mods are set, I just use MLOX provided by MGSO.

I use the combo of Wrye Mash and mlox. The WM documentation references .zip, .7z and .rar files as installers. WM can also install an uncompressed directory if that's what you want. I like using WM because it spots problems with same named and/or missing files and is simple to use to install or uninstall "installers". If you look closely at the column headers for the Installers tab, you'll see one that has the word "order" in it. Double check the WM docs. I believe it lets you manually order the installer sequence. I haven't used it, so YMMV.

Once I've installed the installers, I use mlox to check the load order of the esm and esp files I'm using for my game. Mlox looks at your mod load order and resequences them if needed based on mod readmes and community feedback. RTM. You can override the sequencing. And if a mod is a pluginless mod, mlox won't see it because it does not appear as an esp/esm file.

In answer to your question, sogar, no, there is no program that will re-order your installers. You have to do it manually.
