My uneducated opinion feels that its probably pretty far along, and they are in polishing stages.

Well, pre -alpha is kinda early, hpope they're much after that stage,
Btw since they picked the release date for being unique, perhaps itll be ready much sooner..?

At Quakecon the game was actually in late alpha, soon to go into beta testing.

I seriously doubt it's still in pre alpha. The game releases in 3 months, and stores should get the game at least a week or so before that, and final manufacturing has to happen even earlier obviously. If they aren't into the beta testing stage then I'd be worried about that 11/11/11 date.

Yeah, I hope it'll go gold at October, or it's gonna be delayed :(

I have to agree. My guess is that they are feature complete or in other words they will not be adding any more features to the game. What is in the game is in the the game. Now that doesn't mean that they can't take things away. If they find that something just isn't working the way it is supposed to be working then it will be taken out and then that area will be polished.

Late alpha.

Sorry for the bold, it just seems like a little of misinformation is being spread.

The game is in what they're calling "Late Alpha," but he said that everything is in there, although they "Sort of disabled the main quest for this experience."

The game is in LATE ALPHA as stated by Bethesda as QuakeCon. This only means that they are still adding features.

Do you think they are progressing well, considering release is in 3 months?
