Question about mesh/texture replacements

Post » Thu Aug 11, 2011 10:46 am

Yeah hi, I was wondering if I would have the mesh from the BSA's for ... let's say the Riot Shotgun, and I edit it, and put it in the meshes folder of Fallout New Vegas, would it replace the original Riot Shotgun mesh? Cause when I was installing Millenia/Arenovalis retexes, I noticed they didn't require an esp or anything.

So I'm kinda confused, how the heck does the game know that those are to be used for this and that weapon? Or maybe they have to be namned in a specific way so that the game crossreferences to it's list or something..?

Anyway, if the answer to my first question is YES, would anyone be so kind as to extract the mesh for the "Leather Armor" out of the BSA or wherever it's hidden, appropriately namned, for me I'd be very happy

There are no special lists or something, just use the same path as in the BSA and it will be replaced regardless of type (with proper BSA redirection at least). If you remove it the game will load the mesh from the BSA again, and if you keep the texture's name and specify the same path as in the original mesh you do not need to distribute a new mesh.

Ok great thanks.

So, does anyone feel like extracting and uploading the leather armor mesh for me? I can't get anything out of BSA archives for some reason. Would be most appreciated.

Do you use FOMM? It features (amongst other things) an inbuilt BSA browser and creator. You can find both right under 'Tools'.
