infinite loop/not responding while loading save

I, like so many others, recently purchased FO:NV and the DLC while it was on sale through Steam.

I was playing fine for about 3 hours. Now when I start the game up and try to load any of my 3 save slots it will sit on the load screen indefinitely. If I bring up the task manager it shows as not responding.

Sometimes the launcher will crash, but this has only happened a few times. The not responding happens every time.

I have tried:
- Deleting local content on steam and downloading again.
- Verify integrity of game cache
- delete INI files from documents folder
- updated video drivers
- disabled all dlc

It appears to work fine when starting a new game, but I have only verified that it loads, once I hear Doc Mitchell start talking I quit. It's this that makes me think my save file may be corrupted, but would all 3 saves associated with this character get corrupted? (quick save / auto / manual saves. Quick is 2 mins after auto save, auto save is 45 minutes after manual save)

If I have to start over it's not a big deal because I'm not far in the game, but I would be worried about this happening again. Any suggestions on what to try to resolve/correct the issue and/or my save files?

I'll update here since I can't edit original post to help anyone else who might run into this.
Following advice from a user on the steam forums seems:
"The general advice that I found was to remove the two .ini files in your /games/ directory, and the default .ini in the /fallout new vegas/ directory.

After that, verify the files and you should be good."

Verifying resulted with two files that needed to be downloaded, after which I was able to load my save game. Hopefully no further issues!

I was just about to ask about this same problem, and saw that you had posted a thread on it, as well as a fix. Thanks!

EDIT: Scratch that, the fix didn't work for me.

Worked fine for me for a bit, then after loading a few areas it locked up again and this isn't working anymore for me either so blah
