So YOU think you are tough?

Post » Fri Aug 12, 2011 10:40 pm

You are Dovahkiin. Dragonborn. The only one they fear! I will not be content to be ordered about like some underling even by a Jarl. If I am to be executed and saved or pardoned why the hell should I be subservient to any man? I don't see why I should. I have the soul of a dragon and they are my kin. My draconian brethren are proud and mighty. So am I. I will not bend knee to the Jarls. I will not bend knee to the Guards. If I wish to kill I will kill. If I want to show mercy I shall. I am the Judge. I am the Jury. I am the Executioner. And no mere mortal will command my hand. My choices will be my own. I will defy the gods themselves if I wish it. The Dovahkiin is beholden to no man, beast, or demon. Neither will I serve the gods. I serve myself first and foremost. Everything I do is for my pleasure. If I bow to the wisdom of another it is because I wish it. And all shall love me and despair.

So I ask you: will you be meek or will you be strong?

Ughhh are these threads really necessary? Yes yes you're powerful handsome and better than any man alive. That's why there's the option for you to do whatever, be whoever you want. You want to be a ruthless killer with no heart? Fine. You want to be a humble servant? Fine. Seriously, what's the point of these thread?

Dovahkiin: Is it in you?

Seriously, though... I don't get this.

Is that the bleating of sheep I hear? Yes. Yes, I think it is. So, you want to be one of the flock. I understand that and respect that is how you choose to play Skyrim. Its hard to be accountable for your own decisions. Its much easier to follow others and blame them for how things turn out. Such a character would be too hard for me to play because Id want to steer the course of events and influence them in a way that I see is best, not follow the direction of NPCs in the game. Can you tell me what the attraction of playing a cowardly Dovahkiin is? I fail to see it myself and wish to understand.

When did I say I wanted to play a cowardly hero? And why are you talking like someone trying to sound smart but really have no idea what he's saying? I merely said that anyone can be anyone they want to be, and my friend, it is you who is one of the flock. You have created countless threads, most of which provide no new information and provide easy to answer questions. Why do you create easily answered threads? The answer is because you feel the need for attention, and the way to acquire that attention is by asking questions anyone can answer. Look at the last few words in this thread for example,"will you be meek or will you be strong?" in all honesty, that is but a simple yes or no question that you had hoped people would eagerly answer. What can you gain by asking this silly question? The answer is nothing, it is just another way you had hoped to gain some quick attention. You are but one of the many who have created tons of useless threads asking useless questions hoping for someone to care.

When they said in the trailer, 'The Only One They Fear', I'm pretty sure the 'They' refers to dragons.

But, for my character, the title of 'Dragonborn' will be more of a title of respect, than of fear. All Nords will respect my Nordic Dragonborn.

The forum is a place to share excitement about the game and talk about it and how we'd play it not just to learn whats new.

I say lets fight on our own rules in Skyrim but pacifism is cool too - hard to play, I mean I don't think you can slay a dragon by inaction. But that said, I'm enjoying the poll statistics.

I think it would be really hard to follow the directions of NPCs in quests and events in the game. I mean Id be really angry if I realised that doing things my way might have saved a village rather than destroy it. Know what I mean?

Well, you are free but total freedom is pointless really. If you could just go up to the guildmasters and say "I'm dragonborn so step aside fool" there wouldn't be much else to do!
It sure feels good to be the dragonborn though.

The One Ring was destroyed in Mt. Doom...but you'll have a great time in Skyrim without it. :)

I'll probably follow the Mage's path...I hope it's a good one.

I think I'm talking more about whether you will play the game and strictly do as your told by NPCs in the game like Jarls, higher ranked mages, etc. Or whether you will play the game and decide to do your own thing if you don't agree with something. I do my own thing all the time, its what I love about the ES games Ive played.

Is it okay to betray a guild or rebel faction if you don't agree with the outcome in a quest like killing an innocent or handing over an artifact you don't trust people not to abuse?

EDIT: Keeping in mind that following the Winterborn Collective rules may mean no summon zombie spells (necromancy) and possibly handing over an artifact that might be used against you (I don't like such things existing, I feel threatened in the game knowing it exists and might be my undoing).

I think if you want to progress in the game- you're gonna eventually do what you're told. So to be the ultimate Dovahkiin- you're gonna have to listen to a NPC eventually.

Hopefully we have more choices like that than with Oblivion. I felt pretty tied down in every questline of the guilds.

and of course it's okay to betray them you're dragonborn

Guild rules (and laws) simply need to be slightly modified as you read them.

Where it says, for example, don't murder... don't get caught murdering. :P

I hope there is minimal psychic people/guards in this game. You have no idea who killed so and so - there are no video cameras confirming I was the last one entering, and trust me, my stealth is too high for anyone else to see me (the closed eye told me so).

I mean, you can certainly be suspicious - and people should - considering whenever I arrive in town the population slowly starts dropping... but outright accusations? Pfft. So rude.

I thought so too. But you have to admit there seems to be more options available sometimes than in other games. I mean there is a basic path to follow plot-wise but how you get there and if you are good, evil, or something in between should be up to you right? I wonder how far we can deviate from the rules of the factions we are members of? The new stealth assassination finishing system suggests we might be able to cover our tracks.
