The Graphics of Fallout

Post » Sat Aug 13, 2011 5:03 am

I didn't know they got Fallout that early.

But still this gen of consoles is closing. Maybe I'll be wrong and the new gen of consoles can keep up with PC graphics and such.

Not for long. They'll probably be cutting edge when they go into development, but that will cease to be the case when they hit the shelves. Then, the PC will continue to move forward while the consoles continue to stand still. They'll certainly be close enough to each other for a few years, but the PC will eventually outstrip them as they have currently.

When the next gen consoles do come out, though, it should be a big leap forward.

Huh I thought it was only three games. I haven't been following their legal actions too closely.

I just said that it seems that Fallout should be a PC only game, which it was until 3. And only Blizzard could pull off a PC only fan base and still make huge profit.

I agree with this, it would be nice. I could imagine DLC and game mechanics would have more work done to them too, which is always a good thing

This too, even at the current level on the Pc we will still be ahead of consoles. With what we have now Graphics and Hardware consol wont be able to match us now I think even with next gen.

I still wonder if Microsoft will crank out another box that fails once it hits the shelves.

I don't care if a screenshot of Fallout 4 is no better than a screenshot of Fallout 3.

Eliminate the crashing, cure the stuttering, let it scale better, give a larger map region, let it handle more actors, add optional tesselation, more viewable when distant, and perhaps 3D support later.

I disliked Borderlands but I don't get why so many people complained about the graphics, it was a small unknown company that made it in a short period of time, they did a great job considering what they had.

F4 will almost definantly be released on this console generation on the Creation Engine.

Cel-shading makes it cartoonish. It's not fitting for Fallout gameplay graphics to be comic-bookish; takes away gritty atmosphere. Vault Boy icons should be cartoon enough.

They originally got the rights to make three games in 2003 and in 2004 they got the entire series (this is from memory, correct me if I'm wrong).

It was only one PC with the originals because the only systems out was the Gensis and the original Play Station (I have both and they probably couldn't run Angry Birds). But in modern times they can use better systems.

I thought they got the right to make three games in '04 then in '07 they got the whole franchise.

Not to brag but my memory is kick-ass! Just kidding my short-term can get ridiculously awful. Tell me something and two seconds later I may have already forgotten it.

It's worth mentioning that you don't need a gaming PC to play games with better graphics, deeper content, than Skyrim will have, my system cost about $450 and plays Crysis at high settings.

What they should do is make official texture, weather dynamics and NPCs available for PC players. If amateurs can make them it can't be that much of a stretch for the developers.

How about running Crysis when that game first came out? New games are always pushing the edge.

The use to, anyways, before the consoles become the standard. Games pushing the limits have become rare. Crysis was one and is still used as a standard today, despite it's age. BF3 will be another. Skyrim, though? Not really.

I'm hoping FO4, will, though. If it comes out before the next console generation, then I hope the follow DICE and make FO4 the best it can be on each platform.
