New Vegas GOTY Edition?

Post » Sat Aug 13, 2011 2:01 am

I read that the final DLC should be coming out this month so that makes me wonder when the GOTY Edition may arrive. I am wondering if it will be on the game's 1 year birthday. I also am wondering how long it took for Fallout 3 GOTY Edition to come out and whether that came a year after release.

I played this game at my sister's place but have yet to buy it. I am buying a new laptop for college in 3 weeks that will be able to play it, but wonder if it would be worth waiting for the GOTY Edition to get all the DLCs together for cheaper.

I know there is no definite answer, but I would like some input on speculation.

Maybe as soon as it gets the award. Probably won't be out this year though. As for pricing, it would be about $50-$60, at least in the US.

No game of the year edition as it won no game of the year awards.

Possible special edition maybe, but I think that it was mentioned somewhere before there won't be one.

Yeah, 2010 had incredible competition. Red Dead Redemption and Mass Effect 2, just to name two. Fallout New Vegas got nominated and achieved runner-up status here and there, but I don't think anyone actually awarded it GOTY.

Yeah maybe some 2nd 3rds and 4ths, but I think generally Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect 2, God of War 3, and Halo Reach got the awards if any, Mass Effect 2 with the most.

If the game with all DLCs bundled together costs 50-60$ I might as well buy the game and then get the DLC separate. I can get New Vegas for PC for 20$, while Fallout 3 is 28$ LOL. I think each DLC costs 10$.

Now another question I have. Is there any disks out there for the DLC? I prefer to have my DLC on a disk so I have a solid physical copy of the content I paid for.

Edit: Since Morrowind, Oblivion, And Fallout 3 had GOTY Editions I was starting to think that they just gave that name to all of their games packaged with their respective DLC. I could swear I have seen games that came out the same year each have GOTY editions when you would think there could only be one.

Yeah, this year is going to get intense in the next couple of months as well.

I'm sure they'll have an edition of the game out that has all DLCs and hopefully all the pre-order packs for a reasonable ($30 US) price. May not happen until early-mid '12 after the Skyrim hype dies down and Bethesda needs to keep some interest going in their Fallout franchise.

2011 will probally be Battlefield 3, Skyrim, maybe some earlier ones like Crysis 2 or Portal 2, maybe even the New Legend of Zelda. Assassin's Creed might even get a shot. I doubt Uncharted 3 or Mass Effect 3 will get it, they got them the past two years. I would be dissappointed if they got them, or did red dead redemption get it last year...?

If I remember Jason Bergman said there wouldn't be a special edition, and the only way to get them on disc it to manually do it yourself.
