Bloody Screen

Post » Sat Aug 13, 2011 1:05 pm

Alright, first I am going to say that I think everything looks amazing and can't wait for the game. Now I will complain a little bit because I haven't really seen this discussed too much. Personally I think the bloody screen looks silly and I hope there is a option to disable it. Every time you strike someone or get hit jelly goes all over the screen. It is distracting and pretty overused in games. So what are your opinions on the matter?

It's been discussed to death, actually.

Deal with it.

It takes away immersion. It's looks like blood on a camera lens instead of your eyes.

That is some very good input and really makes you think. Glad to have you adding to the discussion.

I partially agree, but it doesn't bother me as much as everyone else. I can usually get around those kind of things after a while, but hopefully we can disable it or something.

It was in Daggerfall (the screen flashed red when you were hit).
It was in Morrowind (I believe it was like Daggerfall).
I don't remember if it was in Oblivion.

It doesn't bother me. If it wasn't in there, then people would complain because it isn't in there.

Tbh I love the whole bloody screen effect idea...

Makes everything seem more realistic and immersive in the moment.

I mainly clicked on this thread for the Duty Calls reference, kudos OP.

As for the topic at hand, I'm not really a fan of actual blood splatter on the screen, though I may forgive if just the edges on the screen turned slightly redder or darker when the character was very close to death.

They wanted us to be more focused on the game world than our UI, this is part of that.
It's not the best way of handling it maybe, since obviously most of the time taking hits doesn't mean blood gets in your eyes, but I'm sure it'll be tweak-able in the .ini or at least someone will mod it out.

If it's the edges of the screen, it's fine with me. It gives me a sense of urgency and keeps me on the edge of my seat. I completely understand why a lot of people are against it, though.

I think that's very very realistic, and make combat feel more bloodier, I think that's cool!
I don't think when you get hit by large battle axe there is no blood that's not realistic.
But they need to make an option to disable it, if it someone doesn't like it.

Sorry for my bad language ! :wavey:

What would be cool is seeing the red veins of your eyes pulsate.
