my friends in oblivion

Post » Tue Aug 16, 2011 3:58 pm

in my third or fourth playing of oblivion i realised they're were certain characters in the world i could have come along
with me while i completed the main quest!
no doubt, most you realized you could do this aswell.
in order for this to work i had to instigate the start of their individual quests..after coming out of the sewer i spoke with Jauffre.
i then went and started Mazoga's quest, after which i had her "follow me"....

from there i went and got the reinald and gilbert jermain{ not sure of spelling } brothers to follow me and Mazoga up down to
Kvatch.....we battled side by side in oblivion, returned and met Martin where all five of us saved the survivors of Kvatch. :celebration:
stayed for a few days in the makeshift camp built by the remaining people of the city.then returned to chorral, met up with Jauffre. the
six of us then set out {for cloud ruler temple}....with the "follow me" option.

that's were I role-played, i pretended we were on the run { from the invading Daedra; it worked at least for me } and travelled the whole
multiple times, camping at night, traversing swamps, snow -caped mountains, forests and hills. we fought bandits and raided caves and
ruins.
drank in local taverns :yuck: and did some town-folk quests together { we had so many adventures i would prob bore ye with them all}.

anyway, after months of in-game time { two months of mine } we get to Bruma....

here, Martin and Jauffre take up they're roles at "cloud ruler", while Me, Mazoga and the jermains do the rest of the main quests...
close the Bruma gate and made another friend, Captain bird....back at base, we take turns as sentries atop cloud ruler temple every
night.

COMES THE DAY OF THE "BIG BATTLE"

It was fantastic, as i had very strong feelings and good memories for all my "gang" { which i nicknamed the "septim six" } including
our other friend bird who fought with us earlier. Anyway, the battle begins, i wont go in to detail but it was epic...arorows everywhere,
bodies everywhere, i saw Mazoga fall :nope: after she took several scamps and daedric warriors down, i was fighting for my life { i forgot
to say that i was playing, from start after character creation in my own hardcoe mode, that is my character would die and i would
restart all over AGAIN }.....Bird was beside me when he died  , after which i ran past Martain and Guilbert and JUMPED into the
"Great Gate" :ooo: ....it was close i had a herd of fire atronouchs on my back!!!!

when i returned to cyrodill i found amongst the bodies my other friend Jauffre. it was sad to see Mazoga and Jauffre dead, and
Bird also.....

finally after resting a few days after the battle with Martain and the Jermaine's i killed Mankar Cammeron {spelling? }...
the four of us then travelled to the Imperial city...where the last major battle takes place....myself and the Jermaine's
survive while Martin sacrifices himself for ALL of us and the people of Cyrodill  ......EPIC...

this approach of not allowing my character to die once { or i begin again } and having a "gang" really added a special element
to MY GAME....i can't even describe....

my two remaining companions now reside in the great forest, at they're family home. i visit them often, espcially on the last night of the
year.
where we drink and 'celebrate' and remember our lost companions...

that's how i played oblivion, with my character Ely the imperial.
i'm still playing, my character has not died yet, he will travel to Bruma { 8-11-11 }, reside there for a bit... and set out for the border to
Skyrim.
11-11-11.................where Ely shall enter SKYRIM ! ! ! ! ! !

I plan to role play this way again with the new game...same character and memories, just a different setting.

Are there any similar epic stories out there??

i'd love to read them, hope i haven't bored you { if i did, you'de have stopped reading early on }

tell me YOUR stories ! ! !

thanks for reading Ely.

I wouldn't usually be a jerk about this kind of thing but your lack of grammar makes it really hard for me to read this wall of text.

EDIT: Ok I read it. Well I've had so many experiences in Oblivion & Morrowind they kind of all just mesh together now. Nothing comes to mind. Good read though. ;)

Playthroughs like this are awesome! Really cool to see the different ways people roleplay in the world, and what becomes of it.

Awesome story!

When I played through the main quest I RP'd that Baurus and my character became good friends. I came out of the great gate and found his body... So sad.

I actually have a little spot set aside in my Skingrad house where I keep Baurus and Jauffre's equipment on display in their memory.

i never really noticed companions in either fall out or oblivion , my skinned hound in shiver isle didnt live long same as with dog meat , how ever i liked the solitary aspect of gaming

skyrim i think will allow any npc with 100 disposition to aid or companion player in some way ,and this may actually attract me to using companions much more

Nice story, but....

Skyrim was said to happen 200(ish) years after the closing of the Oblivion Invasion, so I doubt that many people from that time will still be alive. Helseth (from Morrowind's Tribunal XP) could be, but Barenziah is unlikely to be alive. She wasa good 600 or so when we met her in Tribunal.

My Character (Amelia, called Strongheart the Mage) Will be alive (Altmer female, 24 at the time of the invasion), but definitely not in Skyrim. After dealing with the issues of Cyrodiil, she left for Summerset Isles, and family there.

EDIT: And Baurus and Jauffrey survived the battles, due to her power.

the closest i've done something like this is when after i killed the Gray prince and became DragonHeart i displayed his sword and shield in the thieves guild hideout. and when Carwen died defending the Gray fox i carried her body into the ocean so the imperial's wouldn't touch her. and i displayed her dagger in the Thieves guild hideout... Rest in peace guys.

very true and a very good point.....pondering!......Ely, in my mind at least, will have been bestowed with immortality after the oblivion invasion, a gift from
Akatosh so he could go to SKYRIM as THE DRAGON BORN as an ammbassador for Akatosh..that's how i'm goin to roleplay it..though the story of Skyrim will no doubt test me on this. i'll figure something out. thanks. ely
