Utilizing multi-cores and large amounts of RAM?

Post » Wed Aug 17, 2011 2:40 pm

I finally built a new computer (was playing new vegas on a P4 2.26, 1.5GB RAM, radeon x850 xt pe agp in a dell 400 sc) and I have some questions. Does new vegas have issues utilizing all the cores/threads in a cpu and what is the deal with the stuff I'm reading about making the game Large Address Aware? How do I get the game to take the best advantage of the new hardware that I have?

Here's my specs:

intel core i7 2600k
asus p8z68 deluxe mobo
16 GB g.skill ripjaw DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
2 x 1.5 TB SATA III 7200 (64mb cache) hdd's in raid 0
2GB XFX Radeon 6950
Corsair HX850 PSU
HAF X 942 Case
Win 7 pro 64 bit

(all hardware is currently at stock speeds)

Your looking for 4GB enabler, found on nexus.
If your decide to add NVSE (only need if you plan to run mods, some require), there is a link on the developers site for a compatible version of 4GB as well.
if you google NVSE, the first site listed will be the one your looking for

Thanks. I got the 4gb enabler and nvse from silverlocks site. Game runs fine, I wonder how I can tell how much RAM it's using.

Open the task manager and switch to the performance tab.
There is the Overall usage.

The FalloutNV.exe schould use less than 1 GB RAM and your cpu should bore around 10%.

Well, if you really want to use you ressources, run a benchmark :teehee:
