Stealth Suit Mk 2 design is a Fail!

Post » Wed Aug 17, 2011 11:01 am

Anyone else think that this thing looks hideous! The prototypes in the buiding looked so sweet! especially the prototype helmet (that you can't even get) How are you supposed to be stealthy in it when it has a white chest plate and back plate, and it has bright white lines all over it... Major let down!

I agree, its not a stealth suit at all, IMO.
Has too much white.
Has a voice that talks to you nonstop.
Its medium armor.
It needs that awesome looking helmet.

Edit: One thing good about it is when its fully upgraded.
But its pretty much useless for DT.

The prototypes are parts of Chinese Stealth Suits.

Daft as it seams and with no logical explanation, I found that “Stealth Suit Mk 2” from OWB seemed to make my character less stealthy than with e.g. normal recon armour or even the OWB chemical suit (my character has 100% stealth anyway)

Both the latter are “dark” ware as the Stealth Suit Mk 2 has some quite large areas of white on it, however I don’t think any coding of the AI help them perceive “reflectance” or “contrast” differences of light vs. dark colour or vs. a background!

I like matching the hazmat helmet (aka darklight cowl) with the Mk 2, I just wish the helmet didn't give you full-time night vision. It'd be nice if it was like the night vision scopes in only kicking on when it's dark. =P

Better yet, toggled night vision. Don't know which button you'd press to do that, though. Maybe an unused button in the Pip Boy.

It's supposed to be godly in softcoe mode since stimpacks heal instantly so as long as you have the stims, and you can hold a crazy amount if you have the vendor code from DM you will be practically unkillable. The only gear that seems to match well with the MkII is the Reinforced Combat Helmet MkII and the rebreather or maybe the Recon Helmet with Authority Glasses.

With the COS Sniper or the 10mm Pistol w/ laser sight and silencer the whole package looks very Special Ops/Assassin like.

In hardcoe, the MkII would have been more practical to use for sneak if it were classified as a light armor, especially with the travel light and light touch perks. If you are going to wear medium weight armor, you might as well go for more DT like the Desert Ranger.

I find that the Assassin's Suit (MkI) and the CSA just looks better. The white accents aren't terrible, they just don't make huge sense considering it's a damn stealth suit and not a "see me from a mile away" motorcycle safety gear.

Actually it'd be brilliant to have it take the place of the pipboy light function when you have it equipped.

Hmm.......yeah, that would be a great option! I didn't think of that! However, I do see some problems that are hard to explain.

The whole suit is fail. Too low DT to be armor, and medium can't be really stealthy. Well, there is mod to fix it.

MY only issue with it is:
  • Voice can not be toggled
  • Those strips of neon light
  • It doesn't replenish health fast enough. I kept getting owned by Robo-scorpions because it couldn't keep up.

About #3 - healing is bugged, it doesn't count medicine skill and effect is low.

A stealth suit that talks to you and looks like it would glow in the dark? Brilliant

Oh, I see. That makes it even better.

It could have been a nice armor, but instead it sits in my SINK trunk collecting dust.

I posted the following comment in another thread...

On the 360 at least, the spd doesn't work. I could tell no diff. So, I ran a test. ( ha..ran a test ) I timed a point A to point B, with the Mk II at 7 sec. I ran it with the Desert Combat Armor, another med armor. at 7sec.

A high sneak character ( thus not needing the sneak bonus ) can move faster with JG's armor and have a higher DT. Plus you get the Crt% bonus. JG's armor ran it in 6 sec.

Now adding to that...

If the Mk II cloaked when you crouched, I would be ecstatic.

Like the K9000, it's a novelty item to be used in Big Mountain and not outside of it. The same way i treated Mothership Zeta weaponry :hehe:

Thank you for the link, but as my sig suggest, I'm on the 360. That doesn't help, but thanks just the same. :foodndrink:

The Atomic pulverizer was very useful outside of Mothership Zeta. Given I could kill every unit in the game in one vats action.

On Topic: The Stealth Suit could be much better, make it light armor and give a cloak with time limit like say 15 to 30sec once you enter stealth.
