Starfire's NPC Additions or Morrowind Comes Alive

Post » Wed Aug 17, 2011 9:45 pm

Which one do you prefer, or do you use both? Or do you not use any of them at all?

I was using both earlier, but I had a problem with Morrowind Comes Alive. Kept crashing at a certain point in the game. So now I'm using Starfires NPC Additions alone. It seems like there's less problems with Starfire's anyways. I also tried using Children of Morrowind later on, but it crashed every time I tried going outside.

hello there
I am using Starfires NPC's and it's great. A lot of good NPC's scattered throughout Vvardenfell, and it has never caused any issues for me. I've not crashed once while using it.

I prefer Starfire's mod.
In my experience, MCA is more demanding on the software and the aggressive NPCs can get really bothersome some times.

MCA, but I've been out of the loop when it comes to Morrowind and mods, so it's just because I've missed Starfire's mod. I'll try it out tonight :)

I also prefer Starfire's mod because the npc really blend well with vanilla npcs.
Right now, I'm actually using SF, MCA and Children of Morrowind. I just know an MCA npc on sight and don't bother speaking to them.

I agree, Starfire's NPCs blend in with the regular NPCs much better than the MCA ones. Especially since it only uses vanilla clothing and heads.

(I can recommend Danae's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=293590&id=7474 with the Starfire add-on as well!)

Call me old-fashioned but to this day I still prefer Adam's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1272

Yes, Starfire's NPC blends better with the locals. In fact, they look like they should have been there in the first place. MCA though older and better known, is too hectic for my taste and my pc for that matter.

Count me with the crowd. I've been using Starfire's NPC mod for some time and I'm thoroughly satisfied with it. I tried MCA in the past but it changed the general feel of the game too much for my tastes.

Anyone know why all the commentary, links, and compatible mods/patches are for the v1.11 version of Starfire's mod? I have a beta version v1.3 that I got from someplace I can't recall any longer and it seems this is a version never mentioned at all yet from the ReadMe it appears to be a more advanced version than the commonly used one even if the dates say otherwise. Is there some problem with that version that everyone went back to 1.11 or did I somehow unearth an old beta file with some odd version numbers on it?

Just wondering as I'm about to start a new game trying out Starfire's mod and the version numbers on this mod are confusing me.

Uh, a more advanced version? I don't think so. Go to the link of the 1.11v and read the comment on the first page. It appears that the author(Starfire) considered the 1.3beta version obsolete to 1.11v. Here's for your convenience:

Question: "Hello Starfire =s=

the version I have says this:

Starfires NPCA ver 1.3 BETA.esp"

Answer: "Download the version I am about to upload as it has the fix for the traders. Also there have been lots of changes since the 1.3 BETA (check out the linked thread for a list)"

Definitely Starfire's. I think I've used it in my games since it was released.

I've yet to try Starfire's mod. But I've been using MCA for a long time - several years - and only ever had minor issues with it. I've always liked that MCA adds a lot of variety to the game in particular with all the new armor and so on.

I use both, and CM Partners on occasion. Other than the drunk crash (still in 6.1) I've had no trouble running all three at once. Things can get a little "jittery" if you're in the middle of Balmora at high noon, and you start a fight. :D

I have now switched from MCA to Starfires, thanks to this thread :)

I got to say I'm impressed with how well the new NPCs blends in with the vanilla ones. Especially when compared with the ones that came from MCA, who looked like they belonged in some other game.

I just wish Starfires would add a few more, it's not like Balmora gets crowded.

And does anyone now if Starfires adds NPCs to interior cells as well? Haven't seen any yet (didn't check that thorough though) but it would be nice with a few more people lurking about in taverns etc.

you can never have enough people to kill in the game..... Hence why I use both. I have yet to crash my game from either of them, so long as they are installed properly.
