xbox 360 with a 1080p 50 inch tv vs asus g53jw-a1

Post » Thu Aug 18, 2011 12:48 am

So i have my xbox hooked up to a 50 inch 1080p tv, and all my games look great on it. I also have an asus g53jw-a1 laptop which is very good for gaming. The specs for the lap top are
-Quad Processor i7-740QM
-8 GB DDR3
-NV GTX 460M 1.5G GDDR5
Excluding the controls which do you think would be better to play on? I'm trying to figure out if i can play the game on the highest setting on my laptop with it running smoothly, or would it look just as good on my tv which i know would run it smoothly. I know the system requirements are not out ye, but I'm just looking for some insight on which you guys would play on.
thanks in advance.

Laptop or 50in

I'm going with 50in.

Wait why can't you have both, or hook your laptop to your 50in.

Depends what resolution you're playing at. Playing on an xbox at 1080p isn't true hd, unlike 1920x1080 on your laptop if that is it's native settings. If you really care about that sort of stuff, that is.

Hmm.. I would be playing on the laptop in your situation.

Why?

Well Skyrim on the PC is going to look 10 times better than on the xbox. You also have the choice of using mods while playing the game on a laptop/pc

1. Get a HDMI cable and display your laptop on the 50" television.
2. Get a wireless mouse and keyboard so you can sick back from the TV / laptop and still play.
3. Have PC-level graphics (and let's face it, the PC version is gonna look better) with the screen size and resolution of a big screen TV normally reserved for Xbox 360.
4. ???
5. Profit!

Seriously though the PC version is going to be the better version for a few reasons:

1. Better graphics. (For sure)
2. Possibly a better UI that displays more info (maybe).
3. Xbox 360's can't display 1080p properly - they take 720p and stretch it to fit a 1080p resolution.
4. Mods. Mods. Mods. Mods.
5. The PC version will possibly support game pads so in that case you could get a USB 360 controller and use that anyway.

And you should be able to run the game fine with that laptop.

You could also get a wired 360 controller (Unless you have one already) and sit back on the couch and use that. Unless you prefer the mouse and keyboard of course.

While I'm no way a stranger to an xbox controller, the keyboard and mouse just have this homey feel to it.

Mouse and keyboard is where it's at. I just know people that don't seem to like it.

If I had a good enough PC or laptop, this is exactly what I'd be doing.

So, do that.

Console games rarely are on REAL 1920x1080, so it doesn't matter you connect it to a 50' TV or a 120.000' one...image quality will still be crap.
