So i'm gonna be getting a new PC soon. I'm going to buy these games and Skyrim for it. Now I wanted to what to expect because after watching many playthough both games cause you to lose quite a bit of sleep. So Tips and Tricks I guess (I'll be writing them down also).

Fallout 1 is fun, where as Fallout 2 is hard. The random encounters in Fallout 2 make me want to destroy my computer. My little triangle doesn't even move and something is attacking me. My outdoorsman skills is also 80, but I never get the option to skip stuff.

Yeah I've seen a few lets plays like that. You can run from stuff correct? I'm no doubt going to lose sleep over the Temple of trials right?

I am a big fan of both those games and it has given me many years worth of things to think about.

I did find the game a challenge when I first played them because I had to figure it all out on my own. Internet svcked and I could not get walk throughs. The games don't hold your hand like Fallout 3 and New Vegas do. There are no quest markers and you have to remember what people said. You will die more in those games then you ever did in Fallout 3 or New Vegas.

The games have ammo, weight and you can't heal crippled limbs with stimpacks.Things cost alot more then they do in the new fallouts and things like Rad-away are rare and costly. NPC are more powerful, Go a head and shoot at a BoS, I dare you lol.

Turn Based might take you some getting used to.

Also play Tactics as well. It has a real time option. If you are getting Fallout one and two you might as well try Tactics. The games come in a pack.

It is safe to say that yes you will.

Fallout and Fallout 2 are turned based and that can be a really big learning curve for you if you aren't used to it.

They are a challenge. If you need any help just ask the forum and you will get a responce. Maybe do a search first then ask.

You will also have to download a Windows 7 patch or something to get the games working on a modern computer.

There is a bug in FO2 [and presumably FO1]. It was patched in Killap's patch ~I thought... It has to do with the speed of the CPU. if your PC is too incredibly fast, the random encounters become too incredibly frequent. :(

Special Random Encounters are also dependent on your character's special, traits and karma/reputation. You might end up going through the whole game and not come across any random encounters at all.

Speaking of which, am I the only one that can't see my avatar as well as other people's? I know it has something to do with the hacker thing a couple of days back.

You should patch FO1 & 2 when you can. http://www.killap.net

Also don't get the restoration mods/ pack until you finish playing the games.

Here is a place to get information. Just make note that not everything on this website is canon. Just a place for all things Fallout. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_Wiki

Described as a "genetically engineered cyborg psycho total homicidal maniac", and a kind of "ultra super mutant in power armor". Having been witnessed laughing off plasma rifle fire, and punching deathclaws and armored humans in half, he is one of the deadliest enemies.

Fiend, get yourself some Advanced Power Armor from Navarro once you have done most of Fallout 2. If you get the APA it's a huge help in the Horrigan fight.

Fallout is fun, Fallout 2 is harder. That damn Enclave in their APA suits. :flame:

I think in general Fallout 2 is harder.

I never seem to be able to get past the temple of trials and fight the tribal guy there without dying at least once. :sadvaultboy:

You can talk him out of the fight, and he just leaves. The ants... If you can step 6 hex away from them while sneaking, you can usually just end combat.
