Hello all.

I've decided, for the first time in my many playthroughs, to stay on the Legion's good side for a while- just enough to gain access to the safehouse and to stay free of the Legion Assassin harrassment until I can use an Assault Carbine. Trouble is, I still want to trigger Boone's history point with Booted. Is there any way to do it without gaining Legion infamy?

Nope.

You've gotta get your assault carbine and gain Legion fame before you do it. Try donating NCR dogtags to the Legion or doing their Boomers side quest (to get artillery). For the record, I THINK donating dog tags one by one instead of in a group of five or ten will reward more fame.

Step 1: Fire Boone
Step 2: Stealth kill all the legion in the camp
Step 3: Rehire Boone
Step 4: Free the powder gangers
Step 5: Profit.

or if ur on pc do the quest and erase any infamey u gained by using the console command removereputation 000f43dd 0 (pick 1 thru 15 without the () )

Or just tell Boone to wait down the road while you go clear out the camp, then get him back.
