Crysis 2 Off Steam

Post » Sat Aug 20, 2011 1:40 am

Well duh, EA make games and publish a lot of games and put them in their own store.. You cannot play quiet a few games without Steam, take Just Cause 2 for example, you buy the retail disk and you need Steam. I don't blame some game devs not picking Steam because it's just another layer of crap that doesn't need to be there and forced on games. Steam is as bad as GFWL but at least that Origin you can play a game without needing the client to run everytime.

I think Steam is a good service but I don't like the way they do business and how they have locked down Steam. Their offline mode didn't come out intil people complained about it. The simple fact is that if the service goes down or your connection, you cannot play your games.

I don't know what to think about this. My Crysis 2 version is a Steam one. Anyway, I used my serial on Origin and it worked. Also worked for Mass Effect 2 and Dead Space.

SCREW YOU EA!
YOU RUINED CRYSIS 2!
YOU STOLE MY MONEY AND LIED TO ME ( I THOUGH CRYSIS 2 WAS GOING TO HAVE DX11, AT LEAST BY NOW!)
AND NOW YOU CUT MY GAMES SERVICE???? WTF! THOSE WHO PREFER STEAM ARE NOW LEFT TO ROT, WE NO LONGER GET GAME UPDATES AND NO LONGER GET ANY SERVICE JUST CAUSE YALL'S GREEDY ARSE WANTS TO MONOPOLIZE THE GAMING INDUSTRY AND FORCE USERS TO USE YOUR SERVICES.

GET LOST EA... AND YOUR GREEDY TACTICS.

If you don't trust steam get your cd key for crysis and enter it in origin then your all set. I kinda like origin no running in the background, but i like choice better.

lets not forget steam was not always a god for pc gamers it use to be a big pile of **** and still is for some people.

Anyways an update @everyone else, I just got off the phone with EA support. Crysis 2 will still receive product support on Steam. Meaning you will still get any future updates and all the rest. It just means that Crysis 2 will no longer be sold on Steam. That's all. Everything else is still the same.

Thanks for checking in with that. Though it would be better to hear that from Crytek instead of second-hand from a customer support drone who might have been given inaccurate information. It svcks that Steam's policies seem to have changed and EA was forced to pull the game. I wonder if it has anything to do with the in-game store for purchasing DLC since there's no way to purchase DLC using the Steam back end. (Typical EA, IMO.) I would rather that EA made a special Steam-approved version and make it work. I really have no interest in dealing with Origin and am a little ticked that The Old Republic is going to be an online exclusive there.

Anyway, I'm good as long as things keep working and I don't have to jump though any hoops.

I dont have the steam version but does crysis on steam connect to all mp servers, or do they connect to specific servers from steams list.

I heard it was Steam that pulled Crysis 2 off Steam, not EA.

But whatever, mine is the retail version which isn't using Steam, and I'm not a huge fan of Steam myself anyway.
