Different Types of Horses?

Post » Sat Aug 20, 2011 8:26 pm

So http://www.videogameszone.de/The-Elder-Scrolls-5-Skyrim-Xbox360-167381/News/Skyrim-Exklusives-Gamescom-Interview-mit-Pete-Hines-als-HD-Video-verfuegbar-840079/ just confirmed "a couple of different kinds of dogs". I'm not sure if he means AI, stats, or looks though I'm hoping it's looks.

http://roboawesome.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/DarkElfFemale-1024x576.jpg are great but who wants to see the same breed of dog everywhere you go? Likewise with horses. I love the http://www.gamertheory.com/uploads/games/skyrim-horse.jpg they've been showing off but having to ride the same exact steed over and over could get repetitive...

My prediction is that we'll end up with huskies & wolfhounds of varying coat shades and the same horse build throughout Skyrim but just different colors ie Oblivion. If we're lucky, maybe the saddles, tails, and manes will change depending on which area of the map you buy them from. What do you think?

Fat, Brown Pony.. Right. People are still making fun of an extremely believable horse.

I think there will be those draft horses (shown in the demo) in multiple variants, I believe the one shown is the medium-level one.. A paint one being the low-level one, and of course, a black one being the fastest.
In The Reach it would be cool to have oxes and other animals more suited for a badlands-type of environment.

Just a light-hearted joke. I think he looks excellent. ;)

Even though that sounds cool, I really doubt we'll be getting any other mounts besides horses. They were reluctant to add them in the first place and the only reason they finally did was because they "couldn't imagine a world without them". A world without oxes and other mounts is acceptable because they're not classic TES features.

Yeah but I mean, there are mounts other than horses, especially in fantasy. Not very much in TES, but that could always change?

I want a rainbow pony.

On-Topic: In Oblivion, Shadowmere WAS the best horse. No exceptions. Hopefully there won't be a definite best horse in Skyrim. Each different type of horse should have it's own distinct advantages and disadvantages.

I think those horses look great. They're exactly the kind of horses people would use in a nordic place.

I don't care if there's no different horse or even mount types: the mods will come, and soon I'll be able to ride bears or mammoths.

Fallout 3 only had ONE single dog model. It felt kind of weird when Dogmeat looked exactly like all the other dogs :/

But Irish wolfhounds are real Viking dogs - in "The Long Ships" or "R?de Orm", the main character had one of those (or maybe it was two, can't remember). :)

I'm sure there'll be a variety in horses like in Oblivion.

Hopefully horse armour while their at it :hubbahubba:

But hopefully they are worth it this time round. As we know from Oblivion, if you buy a Paint horse they are slower than walking and most of the horses can't defend themselves except maybe Shadowmere and the Unicorn
