I don't really need or want companions in the game.

Were there "companions" in Oblivion? I know there were quest PCs that you could get to follow you for their quests. You could then go off and do other stuff and they would still follow you but I never considered them companions like you got in Fallout 3.

As for people complaining about what's not in the game. That is inevitable. I have been coming to this forum off an on for a very long time, since before Morrowind was released, and the one thing I have seen before the release of every single game is people complaining about design decisions.

That's.... that's just a huge disappointment. I really liked having a bunch of meatshields following me. Gave me a power trip.

I wanted to have some Daedra or Undead followers. Little roving band of D-Bags terrorizing the roads. Would have been cool.

Shouldn't we be happy we get companions at all?

Agreed. Although in Oblivion, we could have more...

Bethesda's companions have never managed to interest me so personally I dont care. If I used companions I would care though so I voted yes. I cant see the reason for this. If it lenghtens loading times or something then just dont use more than one companion. If someone raelly wants more than one companion then it shouldnt be such a problem.

Exactly.

he only said at the moment you can have one, but we are looking to improve it. so maybe you will be able to have more than one when the game comes out. finding 2 or 3 orcs who are able to follow you might still be a problem tho, isnt it only specific scripted npcs who will follow you

Actually, this is a pretty interesting and important point ... it is not only specific scripted NPCs who can follow you. I read in some interview (no link; you decide whether I'm just making it up) that the conversation system will allow you to recruit almost anyone as a companion, if the circumstances are right. That right there I found fascinating.

I think it is a small thing to be dissapoint about. Yes it ruins some of your RP ideas but you can Rp perfectly fine without this and it's not like they promised it so when you were planning RP's you should nt have gotten your hopes up so much.

I agree. I'm disappointed but its not a major heartbreak. It will still be an amazing game, just multiple companions could have made it better.

I think it'd be really cool if for a certain quest you were assigned to be some sort of a special ops type strike force. that'd be so legit if done right. as to more than one permanent companion, I don't really care either way. I'd still like to have at least one though... maybe 2... okay why not 3? Okay 2, final answer!

Never liked having companions in any video game. But I'm sure someone will mod more companions into the game.
