NVIDIA Gpu fix

Post » Wed Aug 26, 2009 11:22 am

Hello all,

I just found a solution for those who have NVIDIA cards and experience a glitch that includes flash popping and texture problems.

my specs: i7 950
Nvidia GTX 480
6 gigs RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

If you set your display settings to ultra high, you may notice that it checks off both HDR and antialiasing. NVIDIA graphics cards apparently can't support both HDR and antialiasing at the same time, so you have to choose bloom + antialiasing
or HDR with antialiasing off. I have heard that you can force your NVIDIA gpu to run both HDR and antialiasing at the same time, but you have to set it up in the NVIDIA control panel and I have no idea what would happen if you did.

I am playing with HDR and antialiasing off, and it works pretty well.

Hope this helped.

Nvidia cards can handle both, but back in the day when HDR was new it wasn't possible so I'm assuming these issues stem from that. Either way I read a thread over on guru3d saying nvidia would fix this in the next driver release. Not an nvidia problem but rather the way AA is implemented in NV. I recommend turning it off because the lighting>jaggies especially at higher resolutions. Also, nvidia control panel can't force AA on this game yet. After turning AA off, the orbs went away and the game stopped crashing
