Melee with a Giant... really?

Post » Sun Aug 21, 2011 9:37 pm

You shouldn't view it as something immature/an insult. I like boys. Nothing wrong with that!

Of course ther isn't, but if you look at the way the OP handled it it was meant to be insulting.

I realize this is a fantasy game, but there's no reason to completely disregard phsyics...

Dragons would be either to heavy to fly or their bones would be too weak to fight if physics was taken into account (beyond basic gravity of course)

Well if you look at David and Goliath, you would see how that looked even more unrealistic with just a sling and a rock but yet he managed to kill Goliath.

I have a theory

the 'stone' is a .44 magnum bullet

and the 'slingshot' is a .44 Colt Phyton

But obviously magic is the reason we can take them on. Magic is the reason behind everything unrealistic.

"This poll is biased, and I say no, without humiliating myself, so hah!"

Intentional comedy or not, I don't feel really cool about that. Too be fair, I did choose that option. Boys are awesome.

This is a case where rule of cool overtakes logic. Fighting those giants is awesome. Also, if you can fight dragons, why are giants such a big deal?

And nice flamebait poll, by the way. I don't really care, it just looks pathetic really, but I think you'll be hearing from a mod soon. Hope for BootySweat, he's much nicer than Rohugh.

The Colt Anaconda is the .44 Magnum. The Colt Python is a .357 Magnum.

I'm a bit of a gun nut, sorry. :sadvaultboy:

I feel like everyone's just making excuses for why it's not necessary. Fantasy, magic, dovakhin. Maybe the powers of the Dovakhin will be made clearer in the game and that could sum all this up. But we're all going on the example set by what we've seen from the dragon fights so far. But ignore the dragon, and consider the more dynamic, realistic game play that a forced change of tactics for larger creatures would place.

So your combating he use of imagination for an excuse by telling people to use their imagination?

???

Ignore the dragon? well, Giants, Khajjits, Undead, Argonians, Elves, Slaughterfish and other things are also defying the laws of Earth

Dragons are a key concept in the game which is why so much goes into the fights with them, Giants are mooks or high level sword fodder for all we know so far. They're just flavor for the game, not a part of the overall story.

I agree with the OP. I think that large creatures such as mammoths and giants (and dragons) should hit you hard, and that ideally would want to avoid their attacks, even at level 50. Now granted, the PC was on God Todd Mode, but still, it's disappointing that combat still largely looks like Oblivion, and not quite like, say Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, or Demon's Souls. Fighting a regular bandit isn't going to feel all that different from fighting a ten-foot tall multi-limbed monster.

Well if you look at David and Goliath, you would see how that looked even more unrealistic with just a sling and a rock but yet he managed to kill Goliath.

Actually, slings were pretty lethal weapons, and fully capable of punching through the armor of that time.

Guessing they don't want to force people to use bows or magic to take down larger enemies, although it wouldn't bother me if they did.

There are no attributes to define the strenghts between a rabbit and a Dragon, so they all are going to have some damage points listed for each creature thats static.

You are a master on this forum and you come up with a crazy comment like that? How do you know what the specifics of each creature is?

Good point, just as long as they make as realistic as they can allow

Large creatures should be able to penetrate a percentage of our armor rating, and be able to knock us away/knock us down regardless of our level against them.

Just wanna say, I admire those 3 brave souls honest enough to admit they lived in their parents' basemant. And whoever asked, I put it in as social experiment to see if anyone would select them, not as a way to divy up the no's to give the yes's a greater percentage.

What happens when we fight dragons? Personally if there was a knockback effect it would be more realistic, but it's not neccessary.

Just as lame as hitting a scaled dragon with a sword. C'mon, a little sword has to feel like a mosquito to the dragon. You can pick apart any game because it is unrealistic, because they are.

No, and what if I do!?

Honestly, E3 video was scripted and in some form of god mode (Todd Mode), so we cannot honestly judge their difficulty. I would assume it would be pretty high, though.
