Newcomer Question

Post » Sun Aug 21, 2011 8:37 pm

Hey everyone, I just recently got into Morrowind and just want to clarify something real quick. I noticed in the FAQ it said that it is safe to leave my items on the ground. Is this true for ANYWHERE? I'm currently walking around with a few heavy Daedric weapons that I don't want to sell, and need a place to store them. I'm thinking of making Pelegiad (or whatever its name is) my base, of sorts, and was wondering if I left my items on the floor of a home who's owner I killed they wouldn't disappear. Could I also use the containers in the house, or do they respawn?

Apologies if this has been asked many times before, but I just want to confirm that what the FAQ says applies anywhere. Thanks! :teehee:

only thing I can think of is if you put it INSIDE a container, chest or the likes it might be marked as others property, if you get busted by the guards it gets confiscated but then it is in an evidence chest.
one example chests in aldruhn fighters guild and mages guild might be "owned" by individuals or the guild it self,to be fully sure it has to be looked up in the cs,items wouldn′t go missing though, only get a stolen item tag.

Yeah, you can put anything anywhere and it will stay for as long as you play that character. I often use Caius Cosades' roof as a place to store things until I get a house of my own.

There are a few things to note that you should be aware of though:

1.) If you are playing on X-Box and you put too much in one cell, the "Overflow Loot Bag" will appear and all of the things you place on the ground after that in that cell will appear there. This can supposedly happen on PC too, but I've put thousands of items in a single cell before and it didn't appear.

2.) Since you mention Pelagiad, I believe there is one or two crates in Ahnassi's house that respawn and may cause you to lose what you put in them. But like setting things on the ground, you can put objects into just about any other container in the game and they'll be just fine. They might get marked as stolen if the container belongs to someone, but that doesn't really have any consequence in Morrowind unless you are caught by the guards with a bounty. In that case, just dump your stuff on the bound before paying your bounty.

I always choose Balmora. I put all my stuff on the floor below the Silt Strider (at the middle of the two stairs). I even put some scrolls in containers in front with no harm. After I kill Dura gra-Bol (Fighter guild quest) I use her house. No problem..
