Just ordered Morrowind

Post » Mon Aug 22, 2011 2:26 am

Hey everyone, I just bought GOTY Morrowind of amazon to get me through the 3 months till skyrim. I've had a look at a few mods but there's so much to choose from  Can someone please suggest some mods for me, to do the following things:

- Improve the graphics of the world

- get rid of bugs

- Improve the graphics of Npcs, the PC, creatures and items

I searched for mods to do these but there was too many and it was all a bit overwhelming  I'm new to this whole modding thing (I have oblivion on xbox) so any help is much appreciated :)

The first place to start is here: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1060141-mod-recommendations-for-new-players/

Once you are comfortable with how things work, check here: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1216870-relz-morrowind-overhaul-sounds-graphics/

That should get your graphics up to beautiful. :D

After that, it's really a matter of taste. If you ask six different people, you'll get six different answers. My best advice is to start off slow and get used to how things work. Then you'll have a better idea of how you want to set up your game. :D

Is this your first time playing Morrowind? If so, go play without mods first. Have you used mods already for Oblivion or maybe Fallout? If not I'd suggest to install some mods manually first to get a feel for it, so you actually know what you're doing and where to put stuff.

Personally I don't like MGSO that much and suggest reading through http://btb2.free.fr/morrowind.html and http://knotstheinane.blogspot.com/p/morrowind-modding-guide.html instead, but it works really well for most people and the author has put a lot of work into it.

No mods? MPP and MCP at minimum, probably Better Bodies and Mesh Improvements, and perhaps Better Clothes. I'm not exactly unbiased here, but use Better Skulls - no one needs to see the horror that is a vanilla skull. Play a bit with that and see if you cam stand it or if you need to consider a head replacer or replacers and various other replacers. In my opinion there's no rush to add too many actual content or tweak mods.

But how can people appreciate the awesomeness of Better Skulls if they've never experienced the horror of the vanilla skull? :P

It's like when I reinstalled FO3 and I forgot to re-install Darn's UI mod. 'Oh yeah I forgot, the vanilla UI is crap and Darn made it so much better'.
