Destructoid Skyrim video interview @ Gamescom 2011

Post » Mon Aug 22, 2011 4:30 am

Watching it now :)

-main quest 20-25 hours.
-turn ore into ingots.

Pete is looking stressed and irked with the same questions every interview...

Well thats the tradeoff for basically shooting down every question that is not in their list of info they want to release.

Until something new gets the green light, you will be hearing the same questions and answers until release.

I actually think the media is doing it on purpose for punishment for not releasing new info.

This.
Anyway, Pete is a very skilled interviewee.
He is sticking to his plan.

perhaps the progression is based more on the dishes themselves than 18 skills.
maybe there could be a bar next to each recipe in the list, the more you cook that dish the more that dish is effective.

that actually sounds pretty cool
like 'mini skills' that arent part of the main skills, but activities you can still improve with use

In a couple of interviews with Pete, he mentioned finding some special cookfires for cooking food.

Do you guys think this means we cannot start out own cookfires, and can only cook on special cookfires?

Do you think it means like special places in the wilds, kitchens, cooking workstations, or any?

My guess is that it will be similar to Fallout: New Vegas, in the sense that there will be stationary campfires around the world, as well as hearths and kitchens used for cooking.

Which is fine with me. I've always wanted to be able to use those camp fires bandits "leave behind." :whistling:

You can see how the inventory functions in the E3 demo. I wound link you to the YouTube video, but i'm on my phone and it acts funny with YouTube links for some reason.

The QuakeCon demo (which we are supposed to be getting sometime this month) demonstrates the inventory very well. It works basically like this: Your items are listed in a top-bottom scrolling menu. Each item can then be selected, which will then bring up detailed information about the item as well as a fully-rendered 3D model than you can spin and rotate. I heard somewhere that this will be important for certain quests where you have to find something hidden in/on items.

So we can't see a model of our character wearing them?

That's correct. It appears the paperdoll is a thing of the past.

As far as I can tell, no, you cannot see a model of your character inside the inventory.

I am still confused on why this is a big deal. You can wear it then go into 3rd person view to look at your guy.

I wonder will I be able to finally delete my spells like in Morrowind?

Hopefully, our individual homes will have the appropriate workstations for various crafting activities.

I think the crafting and smithing, as well as enchanting are going to add much to role-play. Looking forward to getting started, lol.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Love hearing about the lockpicking, I hated Oblivion's lock system with a passion, it was mainly how fast could I mash the X Button instead of using skill to open the lock. The only problem that I see with the lockpicking is that they may go towards more of a Fallout 3 type where you need the Lockpicking level to be at a certain amount in order to open a lock. That worked fine in Fallout 3 but I don't think it would work as well with Skyrim.

I'll take the stuff about the main quest with a grain of salt, cause we all know how that was in Oblivion and Fallout 3.
