In case some of you guys don't visit crydev.net very often here is a mod recently released for Bokeh DOF - Makes the game 10x better now, check out this screenshot:
IMO it also makes the SP a whole lot more challenging and definately feels more real.

It's good for game shots but DOF like that is horrible in my view since your eyes have natural DOF. How are you supposed to see stuff in the distance if something is shooting at you?

Its a pretty decent DOF effect - your eyes don't give you DOF on a 2D screen....When you look into the distance (aim your crosshairs) it automatically adjusts the focus to the distance. It doesn't just focus on anything that is close to you, you actually have to look directly at it (center it on your screen for the DOF effect) - I agree it is a little more difficult to see enemies in the distance if you're not looking directly at them, but that is what makes this mod much more realistic and challenging for the game.

Yeah, it looks good how it's done in Crysis and the cross-hair on guns but to blur out the background like that is too much. I've seen a few games do this and it looks real bad.

If you look at one object on screen, your eyes naturally do it. It's really a cinematic effect but like a lot of those effects it's just not right for games, since we are playing a game, not watching a film.
