Comm Officer Lenk Near Vault 3

Post » Mon Aug 22, 2011 10:59 pm

i left the vault 3 area and headed towards spot where driver nephi is and then i saw someone running away from them. she ended up getting shot and i checked her out.........it was comm officer lenk from the return to sender mission. she was not anywhere near where her normal position is so how did she get out there. the only two mods i changed were updated to PN 2.3 and i just installed the inofficial community patch. other than that my game is the same.

It's just a stupid bug in the game. Stuff like that always goes on with me making me fail the quests.

I’ve found many quest characters spawn/appear where the death claws are what a pain.

That type of stuff has happened to me ever since oblivion (don't remember seeing such an issue in morrowind)

Oblivion- Palace guards often spawning in anvil and then walking back to palace, happened everytime i went there
Fallout- the BoS squad you help in the ruins (where you rescue that initiate) turning up at various places thanking me and then standing around. Or greyditch kid turning up at various towns, instances then running away (and more often than not finding his corpse not long after).
New vegas- various npcs turning up initiating conversation or blurting something and then leaving for wherever they are supposed to be. eg. 5min i was at Doc. Usanagi's when tabetha (post quest) comes in and said 'Rhonda is that you?' and is now just standing there doing nothing.

Honestly, i think the more mods (or having complex/heavily scripted ones) increases the chances of this happening regardless of whether they made changes to npc or not (though if npc did have changes, well.....), it seems to be just one of the peculiarity's of the gamebryo games. Sorta got used to it and often think of it as an extra mission to get em back to normal area, if not then a workaround is to rest/wait/fast travel somewhere and the npc will go back safely as nothing happens unless you are nearby.

i would love to have seen tabitha walk in and say that. it was pretty funny the first time i did the quest but to see it happen when your not expecting it at all would be hilarious.

yeah well, i'd just finished the fade-to-black bit from having an implant put in, when a cross-dressing super-mutant walks in, makes you wonder what other surgery options usanagi has.......
