hardcoe Survivalist Build

Post » Mon Aug 22, 2011 11:55 pm

Alright, I'm thinking of playing a hardcoe survivalist that is one with nature (both perks of animal friend) and lives off the land.

S 6 (Travels light, but still quite strong)
P 6 (Has learned to keep an eye out for beasts he can't befriend and raiders)
E 8 (Imperative for a survivalist)
C 4 (Not much of a people person, he doesn't get a lot of human contact, but he likes animals andis needed for animal friend)
I 6 ( You don't live long without having some wits about you)
A 5 (Average)
L 5 (Average)

Tags: Guns, Survival, Melee (With some points put into Unarmed as well, Barter needed for pack rat, Repair too)

Perks: Hunter, Entomoligist, Pack Rat, Strong back, Light touch, Travel light, Better Criticals, Finesse, Cowboy, Toughness, Super slam, Life Giver, Piercing strike, Jury Rigging, Slayer, Hand Loader, Grunt, Animal Friend, Educated, Comprehension, Tribal wisdom... Dunno what else.

Traits: Skilled ( I like both of the effects), Wild Wasteland.

Equipment: Light armour - Leather, Leather Reinforced,Chinese Stealth Armour, Leather reinforced gecko-backed, JGs Armour Headwear - 1st recon beret, slave scarf.
Weapons - Chance's Knife, Cowboy guns, Hunting rifle, Pistols, Dynamite, Grenades, Rifles.

Mr. House supporter.

Thoughts? Improvements?

oh the Druid Build!

Yeah it's not bad at the Start. Gets kinda boring after awhile FYI.

I suggest using the Druid build for anyone who is starting out HC mode.

lockpick helps. ;) same with Survival. It's good to get it up to around 60+ ASAP.

I would bring I to 5, and L to 6.

part of living off the land is being a hunter, so if animals aren't attacking you, it diminishes that feel. But maybe you want to be more like in complete harmony with nature kind of feel.

You should have a house that's like a shack outdoors or in a vacant mobile home.

That's what I was going for, I would only hunt my animal friends if i had to.

I should probably drop Hunter in that case.

Looks like a good build, but don't take my word for it as I have yet to do hardcoe mode.

I'd borrow a point from Strength and then either take Intense Training or wander into civilisation and get the implant.

Also sell any stimpacks or drugs you find, or just drop it. Survive on food and drink alone, with a few doctor bags.

You can walk out of Doc Mitchell's place with 19 stimpaks if you have the right skills*, that's a pretty penny if you trust them shifty trader types.

*25 science, 30 med and 30 speech, you can just rebuild your character when you leave goodsprings so it's a good idea to have these at least temporarily.
