Esbern, where are you

I understand not spoiling the character but I'd thought Beth would give us more info on him. All we know is that he's voiced by Max Von Sydow, is the Dragonborn's mentor, the last member of the Blades, and that's basically it. We have no idea on how he looks or what race he is (Probably Nord or Imperial). I'm just wondering why we haven't gotten more info on him.

I think it is a tad strange but maybe Bethesda wants us to be like "So thats who he is!" instead of "Oh, that guy from the screenshot five months ago..."

They want things fresh without revealing TOO much, so maybe they are holding him back for another reason

Most likely this, which is much more exciting.

Perhaps he's Skyrim's, "Jauffre"? Either way he sounds like he's going to be a good character. And I'm glad there keeping a lot of the game's character's under wraps... so far.

He's the last of a nearly forgotten order, he's your mentor, his chances for a more or less horrible death are close to a hundred percent. So leave him the little bit of privacy.

I hope he isn't who we have been led to believe he is...but that's just me.

They don't want to give away the fact that he's a Khajiit. Or Argonian. Or better yet, a Sload or Maormer!

Seriously, I bet everyone is expecting him to be human. I'm certainly hoping this isn't the case.

I think its for the best that we know very little about him. More to discover once we get the game

I'm fairly certain he's a Nord, going from voice actor and knowledge about ancient dragons and such.

He's a part of the main story. Everything to do with that, they're keeping under wraps.

That's my guess as well, I put Imperial because there's an outside shot but with Skyrim being the homeland of the Nords he could very well be a Nord.

I really don't mind them not spoiling much. I rather enjoy it all when it comes.

I prefer not knowing a lot about integral characters to the story before I play the game. In fact, I would have preferred if we had no idea about Esbern, only to meet him in the main quest and be like, "Hey! That's the dude from the teaser trailer." I think that the only information about the story we should have gotten was what's included in the teaser trailer. But alas, I will now be playing Skyrim expecting the Greybeard's to be yelling "Dovakhiin" at me.
