Dragons defying physics?

Post » Tue Aug 23, 2011 8:42 am

I found it upsetting when the weaker dragon landed to attack the guard it acted scripted because it froze and was facing forward for a few seconds as though it had reset itself into "default stance" and then it turned towards the guard.

On another note.
Dragons, unrealistic? No way!

I hear dragons fly with magic and not the air since their wings are too small to support the weight.

I'm really hoping the dragons will be able to pick the PC up and drop us for MASSIVE damage, as well as shake us around in his mouth and toss us to the side like he did with that guard.

yea i actually did a thread about that, you should read it.
as far as "dragons fly by magic" goes im with it, but im not saying there magic can teleport them 90 degrees to the left, which is probably bethesdas crappy animation, but we gotta give them props for creating such a wonderful creature :celebration: and i hope they fix it, even though if i do not focus that much i probably wont notice is, but who am i kidding its a dragon fight ill be focused as f*** unless i was high or drunk :celebrate:

Even though they don't use their wings to fly that still looked like a pretty damn realistic flight to me.

And Omega Came

Akatosh replied, "I think that there are many truths that we do not know, and perhaps there are some truths that we are not meant to know."

Moraelyn asked with a smile, "All right then, I've always wanted to know this - considering the shape of your mouth and teeth, how do dragons manage to speak the humanoid languages so clearly?"

Akatosh paused, and then carefully responded, "Why, in much the same way that we can fly, even though our wings are not naturally strong enough to support such heavy torsos."

I'm getting tired of this realism crap. It's a fantasy game! Better yet it's a video game! Tamriel doesn't have to follow the laws of physics. Also refer to my sig.

People actually care about jumping height when there are Dragons, giants, spiders, elk, saber-tooth cats, wolves, bears, mammoths, Druagr, and trolls to kill and loot. This game has an almost unlimited number of quests, treasure and things to do and people care about how high you can jump????

Everyone harping on about dragons being "magic" and dont follow the laws of physics are morons clearly trying in the most archaic way to deflect from an obvious flaw in the dragons flight movement. Really, I thought more of you guys :/

I agree with you OP, the dragon suddenly and sharply veering left is a flaw in the transition of its movement, and hopefully will be tweaked out upon release. I'm 50/50 about whether they have/will, however I think they've fixed the Giants free fall from simply a stiff cardboard box drop, so I see no reason they wouldn't be able to polish off one of the biggest aspects of the game by launch.

Fingers crossed it wasn't simply ignored or overlooked XP

He goes too far away from the PC and the LOD makes his animations choppier because of the limited specs of the Xbox??

I did not have the time to read alla the posts, but, nobody noticed the animation of the orc falling from the sky? OMG is orrible, he falls like if you drop a rock.
I am pretty sure is a recycled animation from Oblivion. If this will not be fixed and I will see again things like that I will resell the game immediately.

dragons use magic to fly the wings are just to steer and for show

I thought they had a hydrogen sac that doubled as a fuel source for their dragon breath. Or was I the only one who watched that documentary?
