So I have this game set on very low...

Post » Wed Aug 24, 2011 9:35 am

It's so my computer can run it fast. I don't think I can bear the washed out graphics anymore. Feels like my character has night-eye on 24/7. I tried going to just low, and it seemed to run fine until I was engaged in combat where everything became laggy. Anyways, I was looking for some advice to adjust some things in the ini settings to make the graphics a bit more bearable while still in very low mode. At least help me take out the night-eye effect.

Lol, I can't even upgrade this POS. There's no room to install a video card. :/

That bad huh? If you want, you could get the parts for a new computer on Newegg for less than $400 dollars, assuming you would reuse your Keyboard, Mouse, Speakers and Monitor.

It would even give you the flexibility to upgrade in the future.

Ooh, no thanks. I don't have enough money. I'm currently saving my money for a 4gb 360 slim. I'm just trying to make the best with what I have. :P

You can get a decent build for a reletive small amount of money. If you are willing to buy a new system if you were to give us a price range and tell us what you need we can help you put together a cheap system that will play really well.

What are your current specs out of curiosity?

Edit: Seen your post above^ Still it is worth considering a PC over a 360 slim

Ooh, no thanks. I don't have enough money. I'm currently saving my money for a 4gb 360 slim. I'm just trying to make the best with what I have. :P

I'm not sure you'd want to buy a 360..But make sure you get a replacement warranty because I can guarantee those things are prone to break down. (Now that my inner phanboy is done getting out) PC's usually tend to be better graphicly speaking, plus the games render alot faster. PC monitors have a higher resolution, I would just recommend getting an HDMI cable for your 360 so you don't have to bother with all 6 of the AV cables. Good luck I hope it doesn't die on you.

I won't be getting one of the new xboxs because microsoft should learn that they shouldnt wait several years before fixing problems that have a simple solution, not talking about RRoD I'm talking about how xboxs murder your game discs. They fixed RRoD..sort of, now its the red dot of death. But I have to say DO NOT move your xbox the slightest fraction of a centimeter or your games will have a chainsaw taken to them. Btw the only good thing they added to the new xboxs is just more vents..still has the same problems.

Don't worry, I'll take good care of my new 360, when I buy it that is. This will be my third one. My first one red ringed on me, second one... don't really know what the hell is wrong with it, but it keeps freezing up on me on certain games when I try playing online, so I decided the hell with it, and I planned on investing in the new slim. I miss playing with my friends on Live. :(

And yeah, I never intentionally touch my 360 when it has a disc running inside it. I just hope you're not saying that these new ones are even more prone to disc scratching.

They're even more prone now..but now the boxes come with a sticker that says not to move it. I've gone through 3 myself..all of them stopped reading discs because of this. So I too decided to hell with xbox and got a ps3. But since these damn developers code for the xbox, theres alot of glitches on games for ps3. Such as Oblivion, you can't cure vampirism because Beth wouldn't make a patch for it, guess they were too busy with the new one, Saints Row 2's audio cuts out alot on ps3 as well. They're just minor things but its better than having my system break down.

Okay, it's always going to look poor. Just being realistic. However, set it to Ultra Low and try this:

Open the console and type "tlb". That will make things look 500 times better. Test to see if that gives you decent FPS.

If it does, try enabling distant land, or increasing the fade sliders a bit. Bear in mind Ultra High for some of the sliders is only a quarter of the way.

... If you haven't bought a PC already, and aren't into multiplayer/family gaming (As in an entire family unit or clutch of roomates playing on the same system), the PC's the far better deal: More games, same (optional) control style, better gameplay, mods, and better performance for far less.

I'm playing Oblivion on a $299 Laptop.

EDIT: Nevermind... I see your reasons for wanting an X-box.

Seriously? How is it that your loss is Microsoft's gain? If you were sold a car that broke down after a couple of years, would you just buy a new one? Why do people insist on giving Microsoft more money for shoddy merchandise? You're not the only one. Plenty of people I've met have bought multiple xbox's because their last one broke down. Is there even going to be an incentive for MS to build a more quality nex-gen console?

Honesty, you should be getting a brand new one paid for by Microsoft. Especially if it breaks down for normal use. Especially if you're paying good money for a product that only lasts a couple of years.

By ultra low, you mean very low right? And I'll try it. And i have everything set to almost max in the distant setter, but the problem I have are the physical graphics.

Yes, I know. Trust me, I despise Microsoft just as much as anybody else, but I have my own little community there that I miss... and that's irreplaceable. And I would send it in, but I don't know what the problem is with my current 360. I don't know if it's the hard drive or what, so I just decided to save up my money for a slim.

After playing games on the PC I wouldn't get another Xbox if mine broke. I've had mine since 2006 and I've needed repairs once but it was fixed for free. I DID buy the little fan add-on that svcks air out of the case.

I don't know if it's the hard drive or what, so I just decided to save up my money for a slim.

i'd say if you're going to replace it anyway why not send it in, see if they can fix it first. that way at the least you might be able to sell it on ebay or something. or they might give you a little credit towards the slim if its beyond repair and its not your fault.

By god, that did the trick. No more night-eye vision! The FPS rate isn't so bad as well... I engaged in combat in town with a bunch of guards, and it dropped to 10-15 FPS. Normally it's around 20 FPS.
